Unit 2: Image & Visual Perception:-


Image Perception:- Light, luminance, brightness and contrast, MTF of visual system, the
visibility function, color representation.
Visual Perception:- Structure of human eye, image formation in the eye, brightness
adaptation and discrimination.

Unit 3: Image Enhancement:-


Histogram modeling, enhancement using arithmetic/logic operation, spacial operations,
transform operations, multi-spectral image enhancement.

Unit 4: Image Restoration:-


A model of image degradation/restoration process, restoration in the presence of noise
only special filtering, inverse filtering, minimum mean square error filtering.

Unit 5: Image Compression:-


Introduction, image compression model, pixel coding, lossy compression, image
compression standard.

Ciphers and secret messages, security attacks and services, need for security, substitution
and transposition techniques, modular arithmetic, Euclid’s algorithm, finite fields,
polynomial arithmetic.

Unit 2: Block cipher algorithm:-


Theory of block cipher design, DES and triple DES ,Modes of operation
(ECB,CBC,OFB,CFB),strength of DES, IDEA algorithm, Rijndael AES only, design of
stream cipher, RC4, RC5.

Unit 3: Public key cryptography:-


Prime no. & testing for primality, RSA algorithm, Diffie Hellman key exchange
