the next strategy meeting is set for the coos bay library 7 -9 p.m.

i have
included the meeting agenda from this last monday below............the pizza
parlor was way too noisy to get much done. we will resume the issues on
the agenda on the 24th. i also thought everyone would like to read how
people are reacting in other places about lng. see article below: also
someone from opb is going to connect with me tomorrow to talk about this
issue. pray i do this subject the justice it deserves........

citizens against lng (cal) - (541) 260-2000

meeting agenda 4/17/06

1) tomorrow (april 18th) starting at 8 a.m. jordan cove and the port
commissioners are in private meetings with the coast guard and other
public officials ?? at the mill casino salmon room. as far as i know the
public is not invited or allowed to attend. we plan to be out there in force
with signs outside. ( we decided against this as braddock told me just
before our monday meeting that i could come on tuesday and several of us
did. the paper in no way presented the whole story about that meeting .
we have our work cut out for us but i do not think jordan cove officials are
up on the issues as well as they should be. braddock did say that if the
people of this area did not want this they would pull out. i say okay..... let's
vote then! )

1) discuss

a. raising money for:

i. cost of yard signs $550 for 100 signs

( makes them $5.50 a piece)

ii. cost of renting hall for may 6th public

meeting (i have reserved the north bend community center - cost is $300
up front)
iii. cost of lawyer to do initiative petition
$$$$

iv. other misc expenses

(i am looking into setting up a non-profit /club bank account. still a work in

progress at the moment. thanks shirley for your assistance and
information. we will be looking into and hopefully fulfilling the
requirements needed to do this at the meeting on the 24th)

b. initiative petition:

i. several people are looking into that

currently if you would like to help in this area please let me know

ii. before we go further with an attorney, it

has to be decided if we're thinking of an initiative in the manner of the 1990
initiative or simply one such as, "should an lng facility be sited on the north
spit of coos bay?" that decision will determine use/cost of an attorney.
this is something we will definitely decide on the 24th. several people have
already suggested that we keep it to just the lng facility? let me know your
thoughts?

c. having another public meeting:

i. rory cox from pacific environment in

california is coming may 6th to talk about why lng is a bad idea for oregon.
i am also trying to line up another speaker also. this is a work in progress
at the moment.

d. starting a letter writing campaign:

i. please see handouts for where to write

letters. keep those letters flowing.

e. brochure has been updated:

i. strategy for handing our brochures

( updated brochures are to be done by this friday. steve returned the ones
that were poorly done last monday and got his money back)

ii. we would like to start a door to door

effort. the weather is still pretty unpredictable but everyone in the three
mile radius needs to for sure be given a flyer. more strategy on this will be
discussed next week. carry flyers with you and give them out to everyone
you know.

iii. we need to develop another brochure

that includes the pipeline issues

f. attending public meetings – we need a crew of people signed up to

attend meetings and report back to the group. we need someone at every
meeting.

i. chamber of commerce meets every

wednesday at noon – salmon room the mill casino

ii. city council meetings on tuesday nights –

usually nb & cb alternate between tues.

iii. port commission meetings. next meeting

is thursday april 20th

iv. coos county commissioner meetings - ?

v. league of women voter forum for county

commissioners – april 25th coos bay city council chamber
