Important Notes
1. The “International Students Admission Scheme” is open only to persons who do not have the right of abode or right
to land in Hong Kong. All successful applicants are required to produce to The Chinese University of Hong Kong a
valid student visa in order to study at the university.
2. Persons who have right of abode or right to land in Hong Kong should apply via the “Non-JUPAS (Local) Admission
Scheme” (http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/adm/nonjupas).
3. If you have any doubts or queries on your status, please contact the Immigration Department of the Hong Kong
SAR Government (website: www.immd.gov.hk; email: enquiry@immd.gov.hk).
I. Entrance Requirements
(iii) have obtained in one sitting of the GCE Advanced Level Examination pass grades in no less than 3
Advanced Level subjects (Applicants with pass grades in 2 Advanced Level and 2 Advanced Subsidiary
Level subjects may also apply); OR
(iv) have successfully completed:
•at least one year of full-time undergraduate study at a recognized university; OR
•a course of study leading to the qualification of an associate degree / higher diploma; OR
(v) have other exceptional achievements which merit admission.
2. Language requirement
Applicants should have attained an acceptable level of proficiency in English.
Applicants are:
1. expected to possess keen interests, suitable talents or academic background to make a unique contribution to
the cultural diversity on campus;
2. recommended to take TOEFL, IELTS or other acceptable language test, if English is not their native language;
Applicants will be considered on the basis of their academic and other qualifications and on individual merits. If
they are invited to attend an interview, their performance at the interview will also be taken into account.
Note A: Students admitted on GCE A-level qualification or equivalent (e.g. International Baccalaureate
Diploma) will normally be required to complete 99 units of courses in order to graduate. Students
admitted on standing below GCE A-level qualification (e.g. qualifications obtained outside Hong Kong
for admission to 4-year undergraduate programmes of an overseas university) will normally be
required to complete 123 units of courses in order to graduate.

1. Before submitting your application, please make sure that you have fully completed and signed your
application and attach the following supporting documents:
(i) a photocopy of your passport / identity certificate (This will only be used for verification purpose. It
will be removed from the applicant’s file after the said purpose has been completed.)
(ii) certified true copies of your credentials (if applicable):
•high school reports / transcripts and graduation certificate
•diploma, degree transcripts and graduation certificate
•result slip(s) of public examination(s) (IB / SAT / AP / GCE A-Level / others)
•proficiency in English language (TOEFL / IELTS / others)
•professional / academic achievements
(Remarks: Please do not send your original documents by post. The University will not be
responsible for any documents lost in the post. Transcripts and diplomas, which are not in
English, must be accompanied by a certified translation in English.)
(iii) admission offer letter from another recognised university (if applicable)
(iv) Recommendation of an Academic Referee (in a sealed envelope), if not sent directly to the Office
by the referee
(v) payment of application fee
2. Applications will be processed upon receipt of the above mentioned documents. Late submission of
supporting documents would only be accepted on valid ground.
3. Original of awards /certificates in support of the qualifications listed in the application may be
required for verification upon request by the University before registration. Applicants who fail to
produce these for verification WILL result in disqualification of their applications for admission and
subsequent enrolments in the University.
4. Applicants must sign their application forms. Those submitting their applications via email will be requested to
provide a signature at a later stage.
5. Applicants must not submit more than one application form, or their applications will be annulled.
6. Applications should be submitted to the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid before the stipulated deadline
in the following ways:
(i) by post / in person:

1. The online application fee is HK$300 (approximate to US$37) and the paper application fee is HK$400
(approximate to US$52) for 2008 entry. The application fee, once paid, is not refundable irrespective
of whether the application is successful or otherwise.
3. Applicants who wish to inquire about the status of their applications after submission should visit the website
of the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid at http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/adm.
Applicants who wish to receive early consideration for admission may submit their applications on or before 15
January 2008.
Applications received on or before the stipulated date will receive early consideration and those with particularly
outstanding academic results or other achievements will be short-listed for early decisions. Those who are selected
and offered a place under Early Consideration will be notified as from February – March 2008.
Applicants who are not offered a place under Early Consideration will compete on equal footing with all other
applicants again in the regular selection exercise, the application deadline of which is 29 February 2008.

* Successful applicants should pay the composition fees and complete registration procedures in person by a
specified date; otherwise the admission offer will become null and void.
The information we collected from your application form will be used for the following purposes:
1. as a basis for selection of applicants for admission in September 2008 to undergraduate programmes offered
by the University and other relevant or related purposes; and
2. for verifying information about the applicant’s candidature for public examinations and studies from the
relevant institutions in Hong Kong and elsewhere; and
3. for identifying multiple applications and records of previous studies as a student in the University and other
institutions; and
4. as part of applicants’ student records upon registration to a programme, which will be used for all purposes
relating to their studies in accordance with the procedures of the University.
Our application procedures allow you access to and correction of your personal particulars contained in the
application form, except the following information:
(a) programme / stream preference
(b) reasons for applying
XII. Enquiries
1. Please read the “Guide on Application for Admission” carefully before completing this form.

Financial Aid, Room 201, Sui-Loong Pao Building, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shatin, New Territories, Hong Kong:

(ii). certified true copies of academic credentials (transcripts and diplomas, which are not in English, must be accompanied by a
certified translation in English);
