Lesson Plan Template

Topic of Lesson: ____Katie Freitas________________________________________________________ Date to be taught: _3/19/08_________ Outcomes: After assessing what students already know about this topic, what new concept or information do you want students to know at the end of this one lesson? How will you adjust & differentiate this lesson to accommodate unique learning needs (especially for your Focus Student)? For all of my students I will have printed and handed out the power point slides so that my special needs/lower students can follow along, At the end I will have modeled what I want from each students, paired up students.

Who where the Native American people? Each student will have completed an accordion book based on the power point watched with at least four slides completed. Each student will have four completed illustrations with two sentences giving two facts about who the Native American people where.

Assessments: What evidence of learning will you gather to assess student learning? (Student Work Analysis or other assessment tool)

Have students fill out individual KWL charts in their learning logs, have students complete and turn in accordion books based off of power point watched.

What specific teaching strategies will you use (both whole group and small group) to engage your students?

KWL chart, learning logs, think-pair-share, pre-teaching, using power point, think aloud, I-do-we-do you do.
What academic content standard(s) will you focus on during this lesson?

CA.SS.4.2 and CA.SS.4.2.1

Sequencing Activities: Draw or explain how you will sequence and link activities during your lesson.

Learning log question: have students fill out individual KWL charts (K and the W part) Hand out questions that go with the power point Read over the questions and make sure all questions are answered Start the power point, go slow enough so that students can answer the question Hand out paper for accordion books Demonstrate how to fold the books Remind students that they must have at least four pictures and facts for their books Have students pair share about their books.

Facts: Something that has been scientifically proven Fiction: false non-fiction: true Culture: Group of individuals that have the same values, beliefs and way of life. Trait: Characteristic Tribe: Group of people sharing the same culture, beliefs, values and way of life. Population : Group of individuals

Asking critical questions: Give some specific examples of the questions you will pose to your students during your lesson. How was Native American Society like our society today? What is the same? What is different? What new words did you hear that you dont know? What new fact did you learn from the video?

Classroom Management: List any logistical, materials-related or behavioral issues you may need to consider during your lesson. For those students who have trouble following along with power point I will have the slides printed so that they can follow along at their desks. I will also stop after each slide allowing for processing time, think-pair-share time and small discussion.
