Camillian Task Force

Established in 2001 (Rome), and is the international disaster relief organization of the Ministers of the Infirm a Catholic religious order founded by St. Camillus de Lellis in 1591.

The joys and the hopes, the griefs and the anxieties of the men of this age, especially those who are poor or in any way afflicted, these are the joys and hopes, the griefs and anxieties of the followers of Christ. Indeed, nothing genuinely human fails to raise an echo in their hearts. (GS, 1).

MISSION
To witness to the merciful love of Christ for the poor and the sick in word, deed and sacrament through serving the medical, pastoral and humanitarian needs of people affected by man-made and natural disasters regardless of race, religion or ethnicity.

HISTORICAL FOUNDATION
St. Camillus has received from God the charism of witnessing the merciful love of Jesus Christ for the sick and the suffering through professing the evangelical vows of poverty, chastity, obedience and etiam pestis incesserit (to be always present) or now understood as ALWAYS EVEN IN DANGER TO OUR OWN LIFE.

FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES of CTF

PROPHETIC VOCATION PREFERENTIAL OPTION FOR THE POOR SOLIDARITY

PROPHETIC VOCATION
The consecrated person is tasked to nurture, nourish and evoke a consciousness and perception alternative to the consciousness and perception of the dominant culture around us. He is called to offer an alternative, and sometimes this alternative goes against the status quo, which might not be acceptable. Thus, this conviction must be reflected in the dialectical prophetic pathway of the Camillians, i.e., commitment to the Word (preaching) and commitment to charity (witnessing) (CD 2007, n. 5).

PREFERENTIAL LOVE FOR THE POORSICK

the more we are exposed to the sufferings of the poor, the deeper and more lasting does our compassion become. Just like St. Camillus, he always believed that the poorsick are sacraments for us.

is not a social ideology with a religious mask rather it is a commitment in which one assumes voluntarily and lovingly the condition of the needy of this world in order to bear witness to the evil which it represents and to spiritual liberty *+ after Christs example (cf. Medellin 1968, 14)

Pref Love Poorsick: As a SPIRITUALITY

a life lived with full conviction of the divine Providence as the sole refuge of all our strength. Simplicity of life, deep faith and unfeigned love for all, especially the poor and the outcast are luminous signs of the gospel in action (EA 34)

SOLIDARITY
firm and persevering determination to commit oneself to the common good; that is to say to the good of all and of each individual, because we are really responsible for all (SRS 38)

Solidarity is actualized in a form of commitment, which is an exercise of social responsibility, by an individual or the community of persons. This commitment emanates from the intrinsic social nature of the human persons, the equality of all in dignity and rights and the common path of individuals and peoples towards an ever more committed unity (CSDC 192)
