Lady Pirates of the Caribbean


Attached to this newsletter is a collection of photos from our fabulous production which was presented to the public during last week in our school hall. Members of our Board of Trustees came along to watch the production; they were extremely impressed with the performance and wanted to formally thank everyone involved for all their hard work putting together what was a very successful production. We have also received many letters and emails from school families and the Morrinsville Community congratulating our school on such an outstanding performance; students involved can be very proud of themselves!! A fully edited DVD of the production will be available to purchase through school; we will advise families via the newsletter when orders are being taken. Students will also get the opportunity to copy photos from school of the production onto a flash-drive from home. Teachers will give students time to do this during class time.
Congratulations to the following M.I.S students for receiving Merit and Excellence Awards from our Merit Programme:

Our final MI Mates fundraiser for 2011 is a Rugby Raffle in conjunction with the Rugby World Cup. The 1st prize is a signed 2011 Hurricanes Jersey. The 2nd prize is a 2011 RWC rugby ball signed by past and present All Blacks. The 3rd prize is a large goodie bag of Waikato Chiefs rugby merchandise. The tickets are $2 each and a book of five tickets will be sent home with school families today. The raffle money must be back in school by Friday 30th September and the raffle will be drawn on Friday 7th October which is the last day of term. Thank you to all families for their continued support with school fundraising!

Production Raffle
Congratulations to J. Higham and Erika Pedersen who were the lucky winners of our two Treasure Chest Cakes that were made by Mrs Dainty and decorated by the Food Tech Extension Students.
Main characters from our school production: Jessica Alsemgeest as Esmeralda, Jacob Li Calsi as Don Juan Futon and Fay van der Meulen as Lucretia.

Aotea Rugby World Cup Disco


The Aotea Disco is next Wednesday (28th September) from 7.00pm-9.00pm. The theme is Rugby World Cup. Students must receive an invitation from school to be able to purchase a ticket ($3 each) Invitations have been handed out to students this week. Students with excessive demerit points (8 or more) for the term will not receive an invitation as part of our Choices programme. Food, drinks etc will be available for purchase at the disco. No child will leave the hall during the time of the disco. Children must be collected from the school hall by an adult at 9.00pm.

MIS BULLETZ - Netball


The MIS BULLETZ which is a team of MIS Year 7 Netballers will be travelling down to Taupo this Saturday to participate in the NZ Junior Netball Festival. This tournament is being held over two days and the girls will compete against teams from around NZ. Congratulations to the following girls who were selected for the team good luck for the tournament! Zarnia Herewini-Wilson, Te Kawhi King TamihanaToby, Elly Wilson, Tiana Parker, Alison Priestley, Mackenzie Taylor, Ella Wilton, Alysha Priestley, Jazmine Clark-Cook, Sophie Hamilton and Ariana Wilson. Coach Natalia Taylor and Manager Te Rehia Wilson with Umpire Bernadette Priestley.

There will be a mufti day held on Thursday 29th September. Students must pay a gold coin donation which will go towards a student council chosen activity. Please wear clothing suitable for school and for P.E.

All MIS Livestock Day & Morrinsville Group Day Cups needs to be returned to school as soon as possible. Thank you.

Morrinsville Amateur Athletics Club


1st Registration Night4th October 6-7pm. 2nd Registration and Fun Night 25th October 6-7pm Age 2 years up to college age. Morrinsville College Grounds - All welcome! Email paul.pavlovich@gmail.com for more information.

Morrinsville Tennis Club


Tennis is a great game to play with your friends. Registration Day Saturday 1st October 9.00-10.30am at the Morrinsville Tennis Courts. Bring your racket, have a hit and meet NEW head coach Cassandra Kidds. Professional coaching changed to FRIDAY afternoons: 8 lessons for $45 starts 28th October. Game night changed to MONDAY starts Monday 31st October 4-5pm. $10 if registered for coaching, or $30 a term for Monday only players. Enquiries phone Tracy Johnson 889 4332.

Summer Uniform Sandals


A reminder that there has been a change in Uniform Policy; from the start of 2012 all MIS students (boys and girls) will be required to wear traditional, regulation black roman sandals during the summer terms. These sandals will be available from Harrys Menswear & Surf from $45.00 as well as other shoe outlets. Students whose winter shoes are now too small or broken may wear sandals from now on. Other students who would prefer to wear sandals may do so from Monday 19th September. All year 7 & 8 students who require new sandals this year are encouraged to purchase roman sandals. Parents of Year 8 students please note that Morrinsville College has recently changed their summer uniform policy to black roman sandals for all students from year 9 to year 12 from 2012 as well.

All MIS year 8 students received a dental form this week, please complete it and return it to school by tomorrow.
