On the 14th February 2011, Victoria Institution sent 4 players to SMK Bandar Tasik Selatan for a chess competition which was the boys team event in MSSMKL Zon Bangsar. The 4 players were.................................................... There were many schools participating in the event, such as Methodist Boys School, Global Indian International, Saujana, Kuen Cheng, Sri Hartamas and many more. Pn. ..................... was the leading teacher for the 1st day.

The environment in the school was very good with many kind of facilities. There were many trees surrounding the school which makes the air in the school fresh so that the players could play better and the students can study in a comfortable place. Our representative made it to the 3rd place with a final score of 14 over 20. Once again they brought back the glory to the school. On the 16th February 2011 which was after a 1 day rest of public holiday, the individual event began. VI sent ...... students to take part in this event. Puan ...................was the leading teacher of the day. The event had 7 rounds and was divided to 3 rounds each on the first and second day and 1 round on the last day of play. After a few matches of serious playing, the matches of the day had ended. Some players scored full marks on the first day, satisfied, while others ready to pounce on the next day. On the second day, Puan ........... was our teacher in charge. Our players had very tough games because the higher the board they go, the harder the game they face. However, they managed to weather the storm. Speaking of weather, the day was calm and windy and our players enjoyed having a wonderful time playing and learning from their mistakes Puan .............. lead us on the following day. It was a very anxious moment for our players as it was the last round and can make the difference between having qualified to represent Zon Bangsar to MSSMKL and not making it. This will be based on their final result. The VI under-15 players managed second best to MBS whom had swept the rankings from 1st to 6th place. The 3 players, Wong Zhen Yau, Tharoun Sharma, and Lee Ting Yan did just enough to qualify to MSSMKL. There were many VI players who narrowly missed the target, most of them getting the same points as the other qualifiers. All of them proving to have what it takes to challenge for the top spot. Victoria Institution feels very proud of those who tried their best in their pursuit of glory. Moreover, recognising talents coming from many directions to VIs way.
