I JUNIOR MANAGER Internship: objectives and rules

Looking for an internship: using your network, using the schools jobs/internships platform http://careers.ieseg.fr (access with your Ieseg codes), using the list of internships offered over previous years which are available on Internet (Projet Professionnel Infos stages Examples of internships) or using specialised Internet websites. Length of internship: 8 consecutive weeks on a full time basis (35h/week) between June and the end of August, either in France or abroad. Objectives of the internship: 1. 2. Internships coordinators for Paris campus: Amandine Bied (a.bied@ieseg.fr) Internships coordinator for Lille Campus: Louise Perrier (l.perrier@ieseg.fr) The aim of the operational internship is to undertake tasks or missions that will allow the student to apply the knowledge acquired during their studies in the Bachelor program Pedagogical objectives for the students: Discovery of the company, analysis of a problem and ability to bring concrete solutions or recommendations to them Ability to put into practice the skills acquired in the Bachelor program at IESEG in particular with regards to Management subjects (Finance, Management, Human Resources, Marketing and Sales); Awareness of work relations and behaviour within companies or organisations ; Have a clearer view of their professional project and to help the student choose his/her Master electives.

Examples of possible internships HR / Management - Carrefour: managing cashiers, employees paid leave, dealing with staff absences Merchandising - Supermarchs Match: setting up a standard organisation for Match supermarkets, inventory of products on shelves and of the different categories, showing the link between these and the turnover. Financing projects finance control assistant: setting up tools to follow up the finance procedures and financial planning. Marketing / Communication - La Redoute Benelux : writing and mailing newsletters to customers, improvement of the website to meet the clients needs. Management Control working with and assisting the chief accountant. Marketing - Yves Rocher : assisting in the setting up of a new loyalty card and information system in retail outlets in Germany and Switzerland, working on making clients more loyal.

NB: Please note that internships in the DOM TOM arenot considered as internships abroad.

II ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES
Before confirming your internship or signing any contract with your employer IESEG must validate the offer. To do so, you must complete THE MISSION VALIDATION FORM available on the Intranet (Projet Professionnel Infos stages). If your internship is valid and meets the criteria, Louise Perrier (Lille) or Amandine Bied (Paris) will send you an acceptance e-mail. If you are in doubt about the internship offer, please do not hesitate to contact them. Once the form is complete, there are 2 possibilities: 1. Internship (paid or unpaid): an internship agreement will be sent to you via e-mail. You have to complete 3 copies and they must be signed by the company, Louise Perrier (Lille) Amandine Bied(Paris) and yourself All this must be done BEFORE THE beginning of the internship (you may either hand the documents directly to them, or send them by e-mail or fax

III INTERNSHIP REPORT AND EVALUATION


The purpose of this document is to allow you to discuss your experience and what it has taught you. The final grade will not be added to your final average but will be counted in the internship section of your grades. Both grades are important in order to be awarded the IESEG diploma. To validate your internship, you need to get an average mark of at least 10/20: You will be marked on the presentation of the document, the content and having met the deadlines for all administrative documents and the report itself. The written report (40% of the internship grade): 1. The presentation Size : 12, Lettering: Arial or Times New Roman, justify your text; Title page : Family name, first name, academic year on the top left hand corner, IESEG logo on the top right hand corner, title mentioning the type of internship (labour, sales, junior manager or executive), company name and internship dates; Number of pages : 15-20 maximum (20 pages obligatory for students on academic exchange for 1 year as they wont have an oral defence); Language : French or English only; Grammar and syntax: your language level will be judged in the same way as the analysis of the internship. A report that has more than 5 mistakes per page will not be corrected and the student must hand in a 2nd report on which he/she will automatically receive a minus 3 mark. Written report style a) b) c) d) e) Short introduction presenting the company; Description of the tasks and missions (context, issues encountered, objectives, means); Results / Solutions found ; Skills developed during the internship (know-how, behaviour); Give a critical analysis (not just facts or a description) of your success, failures, difficulties met and what this internship brought you on both a personal and professional level.

2. Contract: No internship agreement required but YOU MUST SHOW PROOF of the internship to be undertaken by either sending in a photocopy of the contract, work certificate or salary slip at the beginning of the academic year.

Exceptional circumstances: going abroad, absences, exam retakes


If you are going abroad on an academic exchange and you are unable to do your internship this summer, you may undertake it: 1. next summer; 2. abroad if you have a holiday period of at least 4 consecutive weeks during your stay there. In you encounter any problems, absences or changes during the internship, please contact the Internship officer of your campus immediately. If you know that you will have exam retakes in June, undertake your internship in July or August. In the case of a last minute or unexpected retake, you need to ask your company or internship officer of your campus for an authorised absence only for the period of the retakes. If you fail to ask for authorised leave your absence will be considered as not justified and could lead to the internship not being validated. 2.

At the end of the internship and for pedagogical reasons, ISEG will send your internship tutor a form to complete in order to evaluate work undertaken

The report must be handed in at the beginning of October to Louise PERRIER (Lille,office D03) or Amandine BIED (Paris) (you will receive the exact date later by e-mail) - except for those who are going abroad on an academic exchange, you will be allowed a little extra time to send it to them by email (rapport@ieseg.fr) The document will also be sent to an urkund e-mail address (rapportoprationnel.ieseg@analyse.urkund.com) to check for plagiarism (once you have sent it, you should receive an automatic e-mail telling you that the document has been received). If you use quotes from any other source, you are asked to note them down in a bibliography or use inverted commas, stating the original source. If you fail to send your report to urkund or if urkund detected plagiarism, you will be called in for a disciplinary hearing. The oral defence (60% of the internship grade) : The oral defence will take place during the 1st semester of your Master programme in groups of 4/5.

There is no standard oral style . What is important is that you focus on what was really important to you during the internship, especially with regards to your professional project. You need to be able to discuss it orally. The panel will also judge your objectivity and analytical skills.
