Indian Institute Of Technology-Kanpur | IIT-JEE | Counselling
KANPUR: The authorities of I ndian I nstitute of
Technology-Kanpur on Tuesday declared that out of
a total number of 13,197 candidates who had
qualified for I I T JEE-2011 counsell ing (seat
al locati on), 9,319 candidates were all otted seats.
The I I T-Kanpur also said that 3,878 candidates di d
not get any seat due to various reasons.
The I I T-Kanpur authorities, through a press release,
said that 70 candidates, includi ng 26 girls, out of the
top 100 rank (AI R) holders (common merit li st)
opted for I I T-Bombay as thei r first choice.
Among the top hundred boys, 24 opted for I I T Delhi,
whi le I I T-Kanpur was chosen by four candidates.
I I T-Madras ranked at the bottom as only two
candidates out of the top 100 chose i t.
Among top hundred girl students, 26 opted for I I T-Del hi . I I T-Kharagpur and I I T-Kanpur remained
at third and fourth position as 12 female candidates chose the former, whi le 11 opted for the latter.
I I T Madras was at the fifth place as 18 female candi dates chose it. Si x girl candidates opted for I I T-
Roorkee. The I I T-Kanpur authorities also said that a total number of 1,382 candidates got the
course and the institute of thei r fi rst choice.
The most preferred choi ces (means first choice) were Computer Science and Engi neering course in
I I T Bombay whi ch was opted by 3,352 candidates. Electrical Engineering in I I T Bombay was
chosen by 1,393 candi dates.
The Comput er Science and Engineering in I ndi an I nsti tute of Technology-Delhi was the third most
preferred course as 964 candi dates opted for i t.
Mechanical Engineeri ng course i n I I T Bombay was opted by 784 candi dates. The Aerospace
Engineering in I ndian I nstitute of Technology-Bombay was given preference by 415 candidates.
