The following examples exhibit the format of the genealogical record below:
Abram (>Abraham) = Abram becomes/became Abraham
(ex Adam)- L., “out of,” “from,” or “as a result of;” ref. to ancestry: e.g. Seth (ex Adam); meaning “son of Adam”
Dinah, f.- female progenitor; denoted by f. (female)
Adam:Eve- married (husband’s name, followed by the wife’s name)
[Abram:Sarai]- one in a series of marriages, esp. polygamy (wife’s name follows husband’s)
[Esau:Timna]- concubine (in italics); not a covenant marriage (woman’s name follows man’s)
…Noah- title/address accompanying each name continues after the pattern from the first line in the genealogical entry
(Gn. 1:1)- biblical reference to the birth or blood relationship of the preceding individual to his/her parent(s)
{Gn. 1:1}- biblical reference to the marriage/union (as with concubines) of the preceding couple
[Gn. 1:1]- biblical reference applies to all the preceding information from that entry
{Wife}- no biblical record naming a wife, though one markedly exists/existed
(>Israel)- (underlining) names the nation or people borne out of the preceding name
1. Reuben- ordinals denote birth order of progenitors where relevant
“Hairy”- indicates the English meaning of the preceding name found in Hebrew or Chaldee
sic- L.; ref. to either an error or a contradiction/conflict in the citation noted
(NKR) = no known record of ancestry in existence
