To build your own Enterprise Service based application on top of Duet Enterprise, you require an Enterprise Service Repository (ESR).
Target Audience
Duet Enterprise is a product that uses technologies from both Microsoft and SAP. For this reason, the target audience of the related documentation mentioned in this guide is solution consultants and project teams for implementations who have working knowledge in: Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise Edition Microsoft Windows operating system, specifically the version on which you deploy Duet Enterprise, Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008 Directory services such as, Microsoft Active Directory service. Databases such as, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 with Service Pack 1. Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus. Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0, and the related protocols (TCP/IP) Authentication mechanisms such as Kerberos, X.509 client certificates, secure sockets layer (SSL), SAP logon tickets. SAP NetWeaver ABAP User Management Engine in the SAP NetWeaver Application Server. SAP R/3 system, SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP ERP), SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM), SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM), Supply Relationship Management (SAP SRM), and other SAP systems. Note: Where you do not have the necessary expertise to perform a specific configuration, we recommend that you seek the assistance of the specific systems administrator in your organization.
Duet Enterprise Master Guide (Duet Enterprise_MasterGuide.doc and Duet Enterprise_MasterGuide.pdf) This is provided as both a Word document and a PDF file. It provides an introductory point of entry to the Microsoft and SAP documentation set as well as a roadmap for using all of the Duet Enterprise documentation. Duet Enterprise SAP Deployment Guide (Duet_SAP_Enterprise_DeploymentGuide.doc) The process of installing and configuring Duet Enterprise requires corresponding settings in the prerequisite components of the SCL and it is highly recommended to proceed with all corresponding steps in the correct sequence. Hence, this document describes all necessary steps from both areas: SCL prerequisite components and Duet Enterprise components. The sections that describe specific Duet Enterprise settings are marked with a particular note. All other chapters refer to the settings of the SCL prerequisites. It also refers users to more detailed documentation in the SAP Library. Target group: Solution consultants, project teams for implementations, system administrators, and the administrators of the SAP system. For Duet Enterprise, these mechanisms are designed such that both users and the components perform only actions that they are allowed to perform. Go to http://service.sap.com/support. 2. Select the Downloads tab. 3. Select the SAP Installations and Upgrades subtab. 4. From the Installations and Upgrades menu on the left, click Installations and Upgrades - Entry by Application Group. 5. Click SAP Application Components. 6. Click Duet Enterprise > Duet Enterprise 1.0 > Installation and Upgrade. A table containing all the DVDs is displayed.

Duet Enterprise is a jointly developed product from SAP and Microsoft that enables interoperability between SAP applications and Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise Edition. System Infrastructure
The system infrastructure illustrates the architecture and the interactions between the Duet Enterprise components in different environments: client, Duet Enterprise server (consisting of components from both SAP and Microsoft), and an SAP system. This section describes the components that are provided with Duet Enterprise. Components that support and are installed with Duet Enterprise
In the SAP environment, the Duet Enterprise SAP Add-on provides the services for enabling the interoperability between SAP business applications, such as the SAP Business Suite and end-user platforms such as Microsoft Office client applications and SharePoint sites. Note: Duet Enterprise does not require anything to be installed on the client computers by default. All interaction with client applications is managed by SharePoint Server 2010.

The development of new content on the SCL requires SAP System R/3 4.6c or higher. Note: If the remote interface is not available on the SAP system, the developer should expose the remote interface (e.g. RFC / Web service) on the SAP system.

The following are the minimum software requirements for the connected SAP systems required for the basic scenarios delivered with Duet Enterprise:
