Over Half a Mile Lined Inside College Building

Nu Flow has successfully completed the first phase of a community college pipe-lining project while school was in session and with no disruption to students or school operations. Nu Flow restored a potable water galvanized pipe system using Nu Flows patented epoxy lining solution, demonstrating the applicability of the technology beyond copper pipes. The project serves as another example of how Nu Flows technology provides an effective and customer-friendly solution to pipe system and plumbing problems. Project: Line a galvanized pipe potable water system in four buildings on an active community college campus. Customer: Umpqua Community College, Roseburg, Oregon, which offers classes to more than 15,000 students per year. Site: Four buildings built in 1967 on the Umpqua Community College campus, including the college Administration building, the Library, and two classroom buildings. System: Over half a mile of galvanized potable water pipes consisting of 1/2, 3/4, 1, 2 and 2 diameters, including the recirculation lines. Besides high-volume commercial bathrooms, each system connects to various fixtures including, hand and eye wash stations in labs, drinking fountains, wall hydrants, and feed lines for the chiller system. Situation: Pipe corrosion and rust buildup were causing ongoing problems of brown water, pinhole leaks and limited flow. The pipes had many Band-aid patches and brown water from the corroded pipe was staining sinks and other fixtures. The renovation was also challenging due to the Asbestos Contained Materials (ACM) such as pipe wraps and insulation on fittings. Solution: Nu Flow saved the customer from the cost and logistics of repairing and replacing the entire system. Nu Flow dried the pipes and removed all of the rust build up, returning the pipe to its original inside This project highlights that by diameter. This eliminated the low-flow and brown water problems. using existing connections to a By using existing connections, we didnt have to tear into walls or plumbing system, no destruction floors to access the pipes, avoiding costly repairs. Technicians then is necessary for complete applied the patented Nu Flow epoxy to coat the pipes, preventing future rust buildup and corrosion as well as new leaks. Nu Flow renovation of the system. technicians lined the system through multiple pipe diameter - Steve Howe, Executive Vice President, transitions and numerous Nu Flow branches in the pipe system. They also lined long runs including 250 feet of 2 pipe in the library and over 130 feet of 1 pipe under the slab of the library without having to access the middle of the pipe. Throughout the project, Nu Flow used existing connections to renovate the system. This avoided disturbing asbestos caused by traditional re-pipe methods.
