Sree garments was started in 1998. The company is situated in Salem. The head office is in Chennai. It consists of skilled labors and well trained members for the working of the company. It is the government authorized export company. They manufacture garments and transport to the head office situated in Chennai. They manufacture garments for all ages.

The company is a middle scale manufacturing enterprise with annual output of 300,000 pieces. The company has 260 skilled workers, over 20 technical experts and CAD plate making with guaranteed technicians stable quality. The company is engaged in manufacturing of various woven garments, mainly includes artificial leather, cotton, imitated wool, compound clothes, cotton clothes and wool cloth.

The company owns two compound production lines, flame and glue-water production line. It specialize in compound processing of various garment fabrics and directly orients to foreign-trade garment enterprises..the annual production capacity is 200000 meters.

The leading products include jacquard artificial plush, cut loop pile, wool pile, sumeiron, high pile, etc. There are various colours and varieties available, which are smooth, appealing and durable in feature. It is the best choice for clothing, shoes, cats and toys manufacturing.presently, The company has over 200 staff, including professional technicians of over 20. The company exports the products to European and American countries and has established long-term cooperative partnership with well-known foreign trade enterprise.

The company owns a complete set of the most advanced water-washing equipments and specializes in water washing of various finished clothing and fabrics, including softening washing, silicon oil washing, enzyme washing, rinsing, frosting washing, dry scrubbing, water scrubbing, sand blasting, painting and dyeing.Due to stable quality and timely delivery, the company has become the leading enterprise in water-washing trade.

Main business scope: processing of various clothes, shoes, curtains and quilt covers as well as embroidery processing for silk and knitted fabrics.

The company has over hundred staffs and owns advanced computerized embroidery equipments with outstanding pattern and plate making staffs and standard products inspection control system.

Merchandising is the department which mediates marketing and production departments.

Two type of merchandising are done in garment exports


Marketing merchandising. Product merchandising.

MERCHANDISING DEPARTMENT OF THE CONCERN


Merchandising team of the concern is responsible for all sorts of program to be done in timing. They plan to execute the order to get finish the requirements with specifications given by the customers to meet the delivery time. They have to do costing and pricing also. Their duty also involves product development, market and product analysis, booking orders, confirming deliveries, designing and sampling, costing, production follow ups, payment follows, lab dips, preparing order sheets, shipping etc. Both product and market merchandising are followed in this concern.

Garment samples are inevitably important and are developed and tested before starting the bulk production.

After the confirmation of order,each sample sent to the buyer, has the following details attached to it with the help of the tag.it contains the details pertaining to both, what the buyer is demanded and what supplement fabric trim etc the have used

There is a separate department in a company.but as the merchandiser is a person who is interacting with the buyers regarding samples and other requirements ,this sampling department will work under the supervisior of merchandising department.the samples are to be according to the buyers price ranges and quality levels,merchandiser has to advice sampling department suitably.

PURCHASE DEPARTMENT

The purchasing department in a garment company is similar to the sourcing department but the main difference is that the sourcing department works for sourcing the fabric alone while the purchasing department works for sourcing the accessories and trims.

FUNCTIONS OF PURCHASE DEPARTMENT

In the purchase department the merchandiser give the techpack and the BOM(Bill of materials) for a particular style to the purchasing department and the concerned person will start the further process and for costing purpose the inhouse price involved for a unit involved with respect to the complete procedure involved for its production.In the process of doing the in-house price ,suppose the cost 100 pieces of button is rs.32 then a tax of 2% + 14%of exercise duty + 10%of per unit price is added as the transportation charges and this all together makes the in house price (a hidden margin of 5%is also taken into consideration)this breakup is given to merchandiser by the purchasing department for the costing purpose, the cost sheet is made by the merchandiser and the order is confirmed by the buyer based on the cost sheet given by the merchandiser.

Sree garment manufacturing involves many processing steps, beginning with the idea or designing concepts and ending with a finished product. Sree manufacturing process involves,

Product Design Fabric selection and inspection Pattern making Grading Marking Spreading Cutting Bundling Sewing Pressing or folding Finishing and detailing Dyeing and washing

Receiving Fabrics

The company receive fabric from textile manufacturers in and around tirupur, in large bolts with cardboard or plastic center tubes or in piles or bags. The fabric typically arrives to the company through road transport.

Spreading, Form Layout, and Cutting

After fabric has been received, it is transferred to the spreading and cutting area of the garment manufacturing facility. The fabric is first cut into uniform plies and then spread either manually in preparation for the cutting process.

Fabric is spread to Allow operators to identify fabric defects. Controls the tension and slack of the fabric during cutting. Ensure each ply is accurately aligned on top of the others.

The number of plies in each spread is dependent on the fabric type, spreading method, size of the garment order.

Embroidery and Screen Printing Embroidery and screen printing are two processes that occur only if directly specified by the customer, therefore these processes are commonly subcontracted to off-site facilities. Embroidery is performed using automated equipments, often with many machined concurrently embroidering the same pattern on multiple garments.

Screen printing is the process of applying paint based graphics to fabric using presses and textile dryers. Specifically, screen printing involves sweeping a rubber blade across a porous screen, transferring ink through a stencil and onto the fabric. The screen printed pieces of fabric are then dried to set the ink

Sewing

Garments are sewn in an assembly line, with the garment becoming more complete as it progresses down the sewing line. Sewing machine operators receive a bundle of cut fabric and repeatedly sew the same portion of the garment, passing that completed portion to the next operator. Quality assurance is performed at the end of the sewing line to ensure that the garment has been properly assembled and that no manufacturing defects exist.

Spot Cleaning and Laundry

The company identify manufacturing defects, employees tasked with performing quality assurance are also looking for cosmetic flaws, stains or other spots on the garment that may have occurred during the cutting and sewing processes. Spots are often marked with the sticker and taken to spot cleaning area where the garment is cleaned using steam, hot water, or chemical stain remover.

Ironing A garment is fully sewn and assembled, it is transferred to the ironing section of the facility for final pressing. Each ironing station consists of an iron and ironing platform. The irons are similar looking to residential models, but have steam supplied by an on-site boiler. Workers control the steam with foot pedals and the steam is delivered via overhead hoses directly to the iron.

In the last step of making a product a retail ready garments are folded, tagged, sized and packed according to customer specification. Also garments are placed in protective plastic bags either manually, to ensure that materials stay lean and pressed during shipping.

This involves four key elements, which are referred to as the 4P's (the marketing mix). A useful starting point therefore is to carry out market research tofind out about customer requirements in relation to the 4Ps. There are two main types of market research: Quantitative research involves collecting a lot of information by using techniques such as questionnaires and other forms of survey. Qualitative research involves working with smaller samples of consumers, often asking them to discuss products and services while researchers take notes about what they have to say.

The marketing department of their company make sure that the company has a marketing focus in everything that it does. It closely with the needs and works very closely with of customers. production to make sure that new and existing product development is tied in expectations

Since the ultimate purpose of their company is that of sales, the sales department is rightly recognized as one of the major departments of their company.

Their salesmans are under the direct supervision and control of the branch manager who is in close touch with them and the conditions surrounding their work.

Quality control department plays a vital role in garment manufaturing. This department in is responsible for preventing errors before the product reaches hands of the customer .This should be done in every stage.

This quality control should be checked and is very necessary for garment manufacturing process because the quality plays a vital role.It reduce the errors or mistakes during export.sree garments have modern and well equipped quality control laboratory,which ensures that our product are pure,safe and effective and are reliased through analysis as per stringent specification,methods and procedures developed according to international guideliness .

Managing human resources in this company is more complex than in others because of the many differences between headquarters and the subsidiaries.

It is the export department in this concern which is responsible for exporting and forwarding.

It organizes the safe and efficient movement of goods through different mode of transportation. They use the most effective and economical methods of transport for goods that might be the services of shipping lines, airlines or road and rail freight operators. The export department play very important role for shipment of garment to various countries with using of many documentation. They use container to transfer of garments like 20ft, 40ft and 40 ft HC.

Functions of exporting department:

Obtaining, checking and preparing documentation to meet customs and insurance requirements. Arranging air transport for urgent basis. Working closely with customer and third parties to insure smooth operations to deadlines. Maintaining current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situation and other factors that could be affected.

Transmitting data by internet and tracing of shipment.

The main function of the export department is to prepare and check documents like bill of lading, commercial invoice, certificate of origin, air way bill,etc..

Export documents Proper documentation is important for export and import of goods. The export process starts from bargaining.The buyer contacts the company for purchase directly or through middleman.The director of the company settle the terms and condition.

The internship training conducted at sree garments pvt.ltd enabled me to get hand on experience of the overall functioning of the company and to translate academic knowledge into practical experience. The visits of various department were very informative and added to my awareness about the organization atmosphere. Face to face interaction helped to understand the vital role played by each department and their functioning.

The institutional training program has widened our frontier of learning .an exposure to the practical world of business has sharpened our theoretical knowledge. Finally I wish to thank each and every person who assisted me to complete the internship training.
