We ask that students and parents look through the course guides and then select their options based on
the information provided. Students select 2 x 1 block lines and 1 x 2 block line options. Course selections
are then entered on the course selection survey on the Share Point site.
Families without internet access may obtain hard copies from the front office during school hours and then
students may enter the information at school during class time.
Parents will receive a confirmation notice during November to sign to show that they agree with the
selection of subjects.

AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE FOR NATIONAL CAPITAL EXCURSION
Students from Crescendo Choir of Reece High School recently undertook an educational tour of the National
Capital. While on this tour they participated in educational programmes at the Australian War Memorial,
Parliament House and the Old Parliament House.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit their
National Capital as part of their civics and citizenship education. To assist in meeting the cost of the
excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding under the Parliament and Civics Education
Rebate (PACER) programme toward the travel expenses incurred. This contribution will be paid directly to
the school upon completion of the excursion.
We would like to thank the Australian Government for their support of this programme.
The excursion was a rewarding experience for all students and a wonderful opportunity to see first hand
democracy in action and relive part of Australia’s history.
School Based Traineeships and Apprenticeships and TAP (Traineeship and Apprenticeship Pathway)
program form an essential part of our innovation in preparing those students who are interested in an
apprenticeship or traineeship for the future. In doing this, we are striving to give those students the skills
so that they can become an employable commodity.
Working in partnership with our business community is essential for the success of our initiative.
Parent support is crucial for acceptance of students into a program. Following is a brief description of the
TAP program and School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships
When at school students will study Literacy, Numeracy and ICT associated with their trade. They will also
attend a Realising Potential and HWB class depending on the days that they are at school.
Students will
• Be in paid employment during term, 8 – 15 hours a week
• Undertake paid employment in the school holidays
• Sign a training contact
• Complete a VET qualification
Students will attend the Polytechnic either a day a week or in a block of time depending on their course
requirements.
If you would like to know more, please attend the TAP Parent Information Session at Reece High School at
7pm on the 21st of October. The session will be held in the staffroom.
