Problem description: During installation of TMA in case of BTS3012, numbers of TMA alarms were observed. Example TMA current high alarm, TMA current low alarm & TMA shortcircuit alarm. This result

in TMAs not working in particular site or sector. Also if everything was OK, it was observed that TMA alarms reappeared after 20days of more duration.

Cause Analysis: After visiting few sites it is observed that , TMA alarms are because of wrong positions or faulty components or wrong configuration . TMA alarms reappearing are because of feeder line problems or some components gone faulty while working.

Handling process: 1. Ensure that DATU card is inserted properly inside BTS3012.

Ensure that BSC & BTS end configurations are correct & all 6 ports of DATU are enabled.

3. If you observe any of the following TMA alarm use steps 4 onwards for troubleshooting.

4. While installation, three types of TMA alarms observed frequently. Use following table to solve.

Alarm A) 10258 TMA current high alarm + VSWR alarm B) 10262 TMA Shortcircuit alarm

Reason 1) TMA hardware faulty 1) BiasT & surge arrestor positions wrong 2) BiasT faulty 3) SMA cable short-circuited 4) TMA operating frequency not correct 1)RF connector not proper at feeder end 2) SMA cables damaged 3) feeder open at antenna or TMA end 4) High Feeder VSWR

5. Ensure that all components are connected as per diagram below.

Conclusion:

If there is problem in TMA or feeder line or if there is any wrong connection of surge arrester or bias-T, it will reflect corresponding TMA alarm on BTS/DATU. This means DATU is not faulty & will reflect alarm related to TMA operating. After correcting fault & clearing alarm, TMA will operate normally.
