TANEDE ACR

CATIONIC RETARDER FOR DYEING ACRYLIC FIBRES WITH CATIONIC DYESTUFFS

TANEDE ACR

A retarder of medium affinity, reduces the rate of absorption of cationic dyestuffs, achieving level dyeing The effect of temperature fluctuations while the dye bath is being heated is considerably reduced Suitable for high, medium and low-affinity dyestuffs Suitable for dyeing yarn in hanks, packages and muff, also suitable for fabrics Suitable for all types of dyeing equipment Suitable for dyeing acrylic/wool and acrylic/cellulosic blends (reduced quantity of retarder) No negative effect on colour fastness

bright yellow liquid cationic 0.98 neutral stable up to 500 ppm CaCO3 compatible with cationic and non-ionic products TANEDE ACR can freeze. After thawing it can be used again with no impairment of its properties.

METHOD OF USE 1. Dissolving: TANEDE ACR can be added directly to the dye bath. If required, it can also be pre-diluted with cold or warm water. 2. Quantities: To determine the necessary quantity of TANEDE ACR the following data is needed: V : (rate of dyeing) of fibres SF : (saturation value) of fibres f : (saturation factor of dye and retarder) TANEDE ACR = 0.5. Fast-absorbing fibres must be saturated more than fibres with a low dyeing rate. See Table on Page 4 for calculation. 3. Application: As a medium-affinity cationic retarder, TANEDE ACR reduces the absorption rate of dyes. Due to its specific affinity, a relatively small amount of dye is absorbed onto the fibre. Temperature fluctuations therefore have no influence on the rate of strike during the dyeing process. The rate of heating is dependent on the make-up and flow rate of the bath. Usually, a temperature rise of 0.3C/minute is recommended.

The starting temperature depends on the second order transition temperature of the fibre. Generally, a starting temperature of 85C is recommended. Dyeing: Formulation : x% y% 1 ml/l 1 g/l pH 4.5 dye TANEDE ACR TANEDE CL sodium acetate acetic acid

Start at 85C, add auxiliaries, run 5 minutes, add dyes, run for further 5 minutes. Heat up to dyeing temperature at 0.3 - 0.5C/minute and dye for 30 - 45 minutes depending on depth of shade. Shading: Cool down to 85C and add the necessary amount of dyes. Hold temperature for 5 minutes at 85C and then heat to dyeing temperature at 0.3C/minute and dye for approx. 15-20 minutes. CALCULATION OF QUANTITY TANEDE ACR: 1). Determine dyestuff value: multiply % dyestuff with saturation factor f. 2). Using V value of fibres and K value of dyestuffs, obtain total saturation percentage (Table). Always select the lowest K value as reference point. 3). Calculate total saturation using SF value. 4). Subtract dyestuff value. 5). Divide remainder by f value of TANEDE ACR (=0.5).
