SPECIFICATION

FLAME RETARDANT CROSS-LINKED POLYETHYLENE INSULATED


WIRE FOR ROLLING STOCK
1. Scope
This specification covers 600V and 1500V flame-retardant cross-linked polyethylene
insulated wire for rolling stock.
2. Reference standards
JIS C 3005-1993: Testing Methods for Rubber or Plastic Insulated Wires and Cables.
JIS C 3152-1984: Tin-Coated Annealed Copper Wires.
3. Construction
The construction of the wire shall be in accordance with the following items and the
Attached Tables.
3.1. Conductor
The conductor shall be stranded with tin-coated annealed copper wires
specified in JIS C 3152.
3.2. Separator
A suitable tape shall be applied over the conductor.
3.3. Insulation
The insulation shall consist of black flame-retardant cross-linked polyethylene.
The average thickness shall be not less than 90% of the value given in the
Attached Tables.
3.4. Marking
The following information shall be printed on the surface of wire at frequent
intervals.
(1) Manufacturers identification
(2) Voltage rating
(3) Product name
(4) Year of manufacture etc.

4. Characteristics
Characteristics shall be complied with Table 1.
