Well, MCCS has provided the perfect event, the Flick n' Float! Sunday, 4 SEPT, at 1830, the 50-Meter Pool will be hosting its first Flick 'n' Float. Bring your favorite floatie and jump in the pool to watch the animated bird-flick "Rio". Any floatie will do (inflatable chair/Shamu, noodle, etc.). Food and drinks are allowed into the pool area, but cannot be consumed in the water. Please note: If the event is well-attended, chances are good that there will be a series of Flicks n' Floats next summer. So please encourage your constituency to get out there and Float! Eat better to feel better


We are offering our next "Eat Better to Feel Better" class on Thursday, Sept 8, 2011 from 6:30-8:30pm @ LINKS House. Free childcare is available, but you must register by Sept 1, 2011. In the class we hope that participants will learn the basics of nutrition and the importance of food to your overall health. This is a class that we are offering in collaboration with Semper Fit. These classes have just been scheduled and are open to the first 15 people to sign up: October 26 CPR + First Aid 0900-1530 November 30 CPR + First Aid 0900-1530 December 14 CPR + First Aid 0900-1530 All classes are $6.00 each. Certification is good for 2 years through the American Heart Association. Childcare is provided at the Youth & Teen Center for non-school aged children. CHARGERS APPRECIATION DAY EVENT


MCCS will be hosting the 5th annual San Diego Chargers Military Appreciation Day event on Wednesday, 31 August from 0945 - 1200 at the Youth Sports Complex. Tentative Timeline: 0945 Interactive Games sponsored by Bud Lite 1045 Chargers Cheerleaders Performance 1100 Chargers Walk Through Practice 1140 Autograph Signing 1200 Event concludes Event is open to all eligible patrons - advertising and promotions will begin about 12 August.
