Case Study 1: Case 1 Learning Management System (LMS) is an information system dedicated to manage the materials and activities related to teaching and learning. It has become a very popular e-learning system among the institute of higher learning (IHL) in Malaysia to promote a more effective and dynamic environment for learning. Advances in multimedia technologies have enabled the LMS to become a more efficient, dynamic and relevant to the current teaching and learning environment. Due to that notes, the Ministry of Education (MOE) of Malaysia intends to have an LMS targeted for Malaysian high school students (or sekolah menengah). MOE has invited you to propose an LMS system for Malaysian high schools. In this case, the system will be managed and operated by the ministry, instead of the individual schools. The schools on the other hand will be the users, including the teachers and the students. As such, the system will handle hundreds of thousands of users across Malaysia. Case 2 Google MAP has become a very useful tool for traveling users across the globe. In Malaysia, it is capable of showing the route for any destination in great details in many areas. With the integration of GPS (or aGPS) technology, users can make full use of the system anywhere and anytime. The Ministry of Transport (MOT) of Malaysia intends to use the technology to help overcome/reduce the traffic problems in Malaysia. With an interactive, personalized and socially-networked system, it is believed that the improve Google MAP can be an effective and efficient communication channel for traveling users. As a project leader, you are required to come out with a comprehensive proposal of the system for the MOE. It is important to note that the seed funding of the project will be provided by MOT and once the system is available to the public, the project should be self-sustaining where you have to come out with funding mechanism for the project. Case 3 Facebook has been a very successful social networking website for general public. Your task as a project manager is to turn the Facebook into an effective networking tool for business world. You may look it as an integration of the Facebook, ebay.com, amazon.com, google calendar and many more. The system will make use of the advances in multimedia system to provide an effective, efficient and dynamic system to support business activities in the network. In addition, you have to come out with an effective mechanism for funding and sustaining the project. Your domain is for Malaysian market. Task: Produce a feasibility study report of the system being investigated. The report should consists of: 1. Technical feasibility which include detail discussion on the multimedia technologies. 2. Economic feasibility 3. Legal feasibility 4. Operational feasibility 5. Schedule feasibility
