Information:
Description
This
course
analyzes
the
impact
of
society
on
sex
and
sexuality.
Emphasis
is
on
interpersonal
relationships
and
factual
information
necessary
to
enable
students
to
understand
better
their
own
sexuality.
Topics
including
sex
roles,
sexual
interaction,
sexual
physiology,
and
public
issues
related
to
sex
are
discussed
utilizing
contemporary
research
and
cultural
definitions.
Methodology
Students
are
required
to
complete
readings,
supplemental
activities,
quizzes
&
exams,
group
projects,
participate
in
discussions,
and
view
various
multimedia.
Prerequisite
SOC
101
recommended.
Objectives
Explore
the
relationships
between/among
sexuality,
gender,
and
interpersonal
relationships.
Provide
basic
information
necessary
for
a
complete
understanding
of
the
social
influences
on
sex
and
sexuality.
Provide
information
necessary
to
assist
individuals
in
clarifying
their
own
values.
Provide
the
information
and
skills
necessary
for
decision-making
on
issues
that
involve
sex
and
sexuality.
Apply
sociological
reasoning
to
the
sexual
aspect
of
human
life.
Analyze
the
cultural
and
historical
influences
on
sexuality.
Apply
critical
thinking
to
analyze
current
popular
culture.
Student
Involvement
Hours
Sexuality
&
Sociology
are
both
very
rich
content
areas,
as
is
the
intersection
of
the
two.
You
must
allocate
sufficient
time
for
reading,
studying,
&
completing
assigned
activities,

3-9
