JABATAN KEJURUTERAAN ELEKTRIK EXPERIMENT 3 1.0 2.0 2.1 2.2 3.0 TOPIC OPERATIONAL AMPLIFIER (INVERTING AMPLIFIER) OBJECTIVE At the end of this experiment, students should be able to:demonstrate the operation of the inverting amplifier using a 741 OP-AMP. compare the voltage gain for different value of feedback resistor,Rb.

THEORY According to figure below, Ra is called the input element and Rb is called feedback element. An inverting amplifier uses negative feedback to invert and amplify voltage. The Ra and Rb resistor network allows some of the output signal to be returned to the input. If the voltage going into the 741 OP AMP is positive, the output of the 741 OP AMP is negative. In other words, the polarity of a signal is reversed at the output. The voltage gain can be computed by equations below. 3.1 3.2

Apply power to the circuit and measure the input and output of 741 OP AMP and record in Table 6.1. Compute the voltage gain and record in Table 6.1. Compare the voltage gain from the practical with the theory. Repeat Procedure 5.4 until 5.6 with other feedback resistor, Rb.
