This multimedia application is an animated advertisement that has been made for PEO TV. PEO TV is Sri Lankas first and only Internet Protocol Television also known as IPTV. They provide different kind of television experience as well as other audio and video features. This documentation is about how the advertisement was made and other aspects of the application. I will be using Adobe Flash CS4 and Adobe Flash CS5 and certain other software tools to aid in the creation of my animation. By going through this documentation, the user would get a very clear picture of how the advertisement was made, what techniques were used to make it, what hidden aspects are there in the advertisement, what the objectives and targets of the advertisement are etc. and thereby better understand the work done by the designer / producer of the advertisement.

3.0 TARGET USER

The target user of this animation is the person at whom this advertisement is targeted at. The target user is very important in accessing the success of the advertisement as if the target user gives negative feedback that means the advertisement has failed. The target users of this animated advertisement are young adults with purchasing power and who are in need of personalized entertainment options. Users who enjoy watching TV with a variety of channels and some very unique features such as being able to rewind live TV to watch a certain scene that they have missed. Else the user should be someone who should be able to convince someone with the purchasing power to purchase the product. Ideal age gap for the target user is 18 years of age to around 40 years of age. There is not much requirement for the target user to view or enjoy this advertisement. Basic requirement is that they should have a TV set which plays the channel that the advertisement is running on or else be able to watch a TV with the same. Since this advertisement is being made for a project certain modifications have been done so that the user on a computer can control the movie to suit his/her requirements. Hence a computer with Adobe Flash Player 10.1 or higher and Sound Systems is required to watch the optimized version of the animation on a computer. 4.0 CHARACTER DESIGNS

This advertisement is fully made from animation. All characters, scenes have all been done using animation. No real images or scenes have been inserted except the picture of the product itself at the end of the animation. This animation does not contain any main characters as such but revolves around two friends who are watching a cricket match from the comfort of their home couch. Apart from the two friends, other main characters in the animation are the two batsmen playing the cricket match and the umpire on the field. The rough sketches of these main characters are shown below with a small description for each of them. The sketches were drawn by hand and scanned and attached to this document.

5.0 MOVIE STORYBOARD

Figure 3 - Storyboard | Scene 1 Scene: 1 of 10 Title: Entry Description: This is the scene where the advertisement starts. It starts by showing to the viewers a cricket match that is being played. The batsman is ready to take strike and the bowler is on his run up to deliver the ball. The atmosphere in the ground is electric as all fans are cheering at the top of their voices and cheering for their favourite team. When the ball is about to be delivered, the camera zooms into the pitch and then the ball is delivered.

DF10A1ICT A.N.AHAMED NISHADH CB004081

Figure 4 - Storyboard | Scene 2 Scene: 2 of 10 Title: Appeal Description: The ball is delivered and the fielding team is confident that they have taken a wicket but the umpire refuses to give it out and the captain immediately asks for a review of the decision and the umpire signals to the TV umpire to review the decision and inform him of the decision.

DF10A1ICT A.N.AHAMED NISHADH CB004081

Since they are using PEO TV and the channel showing the match supports Time Shift TV they quickly rewind and watch the replay of the match before it even goes on the TV in real time.

7.0 CREATIVE AND UNIQUE FEATURES

The main unique feature in this movie is that everything in the movie has been done by using computer graphics and not using any real images. This makes it more interesting as people tend to like animations rather than real videos as they expect something different in them when compared to real video. The concept of the movie is original and unique and thought up by me. This makes the advertisement unique as although the product exists in the market, an advertisement with this storyboard has yet to be made. Appropriate background music has been given so that the users dont get bored while watching the animation. Characters have been made up and drawn by me which makes them also unique in this movie.

8.0 LIMITATIONS AND FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS

8.1 LIMITATIONS
Although the documentation has been done for the animation, I would also like to point out a few limitations in the assignment. They are I would like to point out that the time allocated for the completion of the total assignment is insufficient with regard to the complexity of the assignment as many students may find it difficult to draw on computers as all born are not natural artists. The documentation and the final output may vary a little as by the time this documentation was compiled, the final animation was in the process of being made and enhancements could have been added at later times depending on the requirement.

8.2 FURTHER ENHANCEMENTS

Like the limitations, there are also some points that I would like to put out on future enhancements. The scope of the assignment should be increased and not be limited to having an animated movie only. More software tools can be used to make the animation look more realistic. This not only applies to the video but for audio as well.

9.0 BIBLIOGRAPHY
The bibliography will be attached to the CD which will be submitted with the final work of the assignment as I am currently not confirmed of my resources I will be using in my work.
