Installing the Forms API


The Livelink Application Programming Interface (LAPI) is a programmatic interface to Livelink that allows external programs to interact with data in the Livelink database. The Forms API is a set of functions that you add to a LAPI installation. The functions allow you to perform operations on Forms, Form Templates, and Form data from external programs. This document explains how to install the Forms API on Windows, UNIX and Linux computers. The following procedure installs the Forms API on a workstation with a Windows operating system. For more information about supported Windows operating systems, see the Livelink ECM - Forms Release Notes for your release. 1. 2. Close any programs that are currently running. Run the Forms API installation file. The Welcome dialog box opens.

Click the Next button to continue.

The Select LAPI Installation dialog box opens.

Select the check box next to the instance of LAPI where you want to install the Forms API, and then click the Next button.

The installation process installs the Forms API program files. When the installation process is complete, the Setup Complete dialog box is displayed.

Installing the Forms API on UNIX or Linux Computers


This procedure installs the Forms API on a server or workstation with a supported UNIX or Linux operating system. For more information about supported operating systems, see the Livelink ECM - Forms Release Notes for your release. The Forms API installation process in a UNIX or Linux environment consists of unpacking a *.tar file into the LAPI installation directory. To install the Forms API on a UNIX or Linux server or workstation: 1. 2. Move to the LAPI installation directory where you want to install the Forms API. At a shell prompt, enter the following command: tar -xvf path where path is the full path to the Forms API installation file, including the file name.
