Attention: Database desupport schedules have important operational and planning implications for Oracle E-Business Suite environments. Oracle recommends that you review the following documents that detail the latest database support policies and desupport schedules:
Database, FMW , EM Grid Control, and OCS Software Error Correction Support Policy Document 209768.1 Release Schedule of Current Database Patch Sets Document 742060.1

Note : If you are upgrading from Release 11i to Release 12.1, complete the upgrade, including the postupgrade steps, before you apply Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3.

Note: For information about known issues associated with specific products in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3, and possible workarounds for those issues, please reference the Known Issues section of your specific product Release Note documents.

Applying the Release Update Pack

Note : Oracle recommends that you use the AutoPatch utility with the default options.

Note : All customers using 11gR1 and 11.2.0.1 must refer to Document 761570.1 for information about making additions to their database initialization file, such as disabling fast validation for PL/SQL recompilations. This should be completed as a mandatory pre-install step, before upgrading to Oracle EBusiness Suite Release 12.1.3. Note : Refer to Document 761570.1 to ensure that all patches for your specific database release are applied on the environment, before upgrading to Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3.

Note : As OracleAS 10g Patchset 10.1.3.x for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 document is updated regularly, verify the latest copy of Document 454811.1 (for 10.1.3.5 ) or Document 728531.1 (for 10.1.3.4 ) and apply all required patches mentioned in the document, before upgrading to Oracle EBusiness Suite Release 12.1.3. If you are currently on OracleAS 10g Patchset 10.1.3.4, you do not need to upgrade to 10.1.3.5before upgrading to Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3. You can remain on 10.1.3.4 while upgrading Oracle E -Business Suite, and choose to upgrade to 10.1.3.5 at a later time.
In Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3, Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated SOA Gateway is available only with Oracle 10g Application Server Release 3 (10.1.3) Patchset 5 (10.1.3.5.0). Consequently, when enabling Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated SOA Gateway Release 12.1.3 upgraded from Oracle E Business Suite Release 12.1.1 or Release 12.1.2, you need to upgrade Oracle10g Application Server to Oracle10g Application Server Release 3 (10.1.3) Patchset 5 (10.1.3.5.0). See My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 556540.1 for more information on installing Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated SOA Gateway. As the OracleAS 10g Patchset 10.1.2.3 for Forms and Reports for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 Document 437878.1 document is updated regularly, verify the latest copy of Document 437878.1 and apply all required patches that are mentioned in this document before upgrading to Oracle EBusiness Suite Release 12.1.3. To apply Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3, follow these steps:

1.

2. 3.

Use AutoPatch to apply R12.AD.B.DELTA.3 Patch 9239089, before you complete any of the other steps in this section. Do not merge this patch with any other patch. R12.AD.B.Delta.3 must be applied separately. Refer to Oracle E-Business Suite Applications DBA Readme, Release 12.1.3 Document 1077769.1 for more information about R12.AD.B.Delta.3. Use AutoPatch to apply Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 Patch 9239090 and follow the instructions in the patch readme file. Use AutoPatch to apply the latest consolidated online help Patch 9239095 and follow the instructions in the patch readme file.

Attention: JDBC connections may time out during the upgrade process when random number generation is slow on machines with inadequate entropy.
On some machines, under certain circumstances, the entropy pool associated to random number generation may not be sufficient. This could cause the JDBC connections to enter a wait state until timeout. Due to the timeout, AutoPatch will fail with an error of (SQLException( exception:Connection reset")). "Io To work around the issue, use the following procedure to add urandom as the non-blocking random number generator: 1. 2. 3. 4. Confirm /dev/urandom is installed. Update s_adjreopts in $CONTEXT_FILE with the system value: -Djava.security.egd=file:///dev/urandom or -Djava.security.egd=file:/dev/./urandom Execute AutoConfig to populate the associated environment files. Restart and continue the upgrade process.

Note that this workaround should be removed after the upgrade process is complete. It should not be used in prod uction runtime environments because it can result in less entropy being used in the random numbers.

Post-Update Steps
1. Apply post-install Oracle E-Business Suite Applications Technology patches. (Required) Apply mandatory Patch 9966055 (9966055:R12.FND.B [TRANSLATED VERSION OF FNDSCSGN NOT LAUNCHED].) Update database tier nodes with the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 code level.

. ./<APPL_TOP>/APPS<CONTEXT_NAME>.env

Windows

<APPL_TOP>\envshell<CONTEXT_NAME>.cmd

y y

Run AutoConfig on the APPL_TOP. Run the admkappsutil.pl utility to create the file appsutil.zip in the <INST_TOP>/admin/out directory.

perl <AD_TOP>/bin/admkappsutil.pl

Note : For details on how to run AutoConfig and create appsutil.zip, refer toUsing AutoConfig to Manage System Configurations in Oracle Applications Release 12 Document 387859.1 Database tier:

cd <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME> . ./<RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>/<CONTEXT_NAME>.env

Windows

<RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>\<CONTEXT_NAME>.cmd

y y

Copy or FTP the appsutil.zip file to the <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>. Uncompress appsutil.zip under the <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>.

cd <ORACLE_HOME> unzip -o appsutil.zip

Run AutoConfig on the <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>.

Note : For details on how to run AutoConfig on the database tierand how to transfer the AutoConfig updates from the APPL_TOP to the RDBMS ORACLE_HOME, refer to Using AutoConfig to Manage System Configurations in Oracle Applications Release 12Document 387859.1, Section 2, Step 3, Patching AutoConfig.

Database tier and application tier:

Re-run adpreclone.pl on the database tier and the application tier. Since updates included in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 were applied to the system, adpreclone must be run again to apply the updates to the clone directory structures that were used during cloning.

perl adpreclone.pl dbTier perl adpreclone.pl appsTier

Note: For details on how to run adpreclone.pl, refer to Cloning Oracle Applications Release 12 with Rapid Clone Document 406982.1.
