In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful

English Transliteration

[002:175 Ola-ika (those are) allatheena (they who) ishtarawoo (purchased) alddalalata
(error) bialhuda (at the price of guidance) waalAAathaba (and torment)
bialmaghfirati (at the price of forgiveness) fama (so how) asbarahum (audacious they
are) AAala (to) alnnari (the Fire)]

Translation

[002:175 They are the ones who buy Error in place of Guidance and Torment in place of
Forgiveness. Ah! What boldness (They show) for the Fire!]

Before it, we were doing the exegeses of the verse in which, it was mentioned that how
great is the sin to hide the truth. We came to know that it is a kind of mortal sin. And we
also read that what four things have been declared by the holy Quran haram vehemently.

So to hide the truth is also a big sin. And there are torments for such people in the fires
of the hell.
Now in the verse supra mentioned we would try to understand that why there is a
big punishment for the people who purchased error at the price of guidance. Why? In
other words we would see that if a person did not seek guidance but remains on the path
other than alssirata almustaqeema, what is loss in it.
Allah is telling us that the people who ignored the true guidance of any kind they
have actually swapped the guidance with the torment of hell. Such people would deserve
the punishment. Why Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala sent the messengers to this world to
the mankind? It was because the mankind was/is unable to resolve all the affairs of the
world and even their tribal and matrimonial affairs. So mankind ever needs to have the
error free guidance with the garnish of correct and unmistakable perfection which may
give them welfare and survival not only in this mortal world but also in the hereafter life.
It was told through different messengers in different years. The people tested the system
given by Allah. It was a kind of panacea. And really it gave the beneficial advantages.
And the people who did not avail of this system they were really in loss. And even some
of them in different eras opposed the true and perfect system of Tawheed. They not only
suffered a lot in this world but also there is the place in next world where they could have
no further progress. This is Law of Requital of Allah. We are directly responsible for the
actions what we may have in this world and in hereafter.
So there were and there are and there would be the people, who would and did
deny the true perfect system for their life and a pro-humanity system. There are no good
destinations for them in this world and they can’t have good places in hereafter life.
Because they swapped true perfect guidance with the humanly devised system. Their
system may give them nothing. It is temporary. Whereas the system of Allah is
perpetual. That’s why there are torments of punishment for them in this mortal world and
in hereafter life.
Before the birth Allah gave the fate and destiny to every person whether would he
go to paradise or hell. After the 40th day in the womb, it is also mentioned in the books
of the unborn baby that what would be his life span. It is said to be in the hadith. It is
proved here that what we do is all by virtue of the divine planning.
Now let me go further in the dimension of this entity that Allah says. It is decided
that Allah never intends to give the injustice to the entire world. Allah says

Allah is not an unjust to His creatures. In another verse

Allah says Allah never

oppresses His people. But they are those who oppress themselves. These are the people
who seek the misguidance. So the process of buying and selling is discussed it means the
choice of the human approach. What she likes. Allah told us in very open words that the
people who swapped the erroneous beliefs intentionally with the righteous beliefs are

entitled to get punished. They are responsible for their own actions. Because the paths
have been revealed on them to adapt. The messages in the form of the holy Quran have
been conveyed to them. So if our every move is according to the will of Allah then why
should Allah give us punishment! There could remain no justice.
Allah has kindly given us the wonderful senses and great book and Muhammad
(Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and Ahlul Bayt and holy Imams. Now it is our bounden
duty to do in accordance what is right. This right is the holy Quran.

At other place Allah says when We created a

man We guided him towards a right path. That path has two ways. One path takes him
directly to Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala and other path takes him to shaitan. On the right
path, there are angels, prophets, Imams to help you to get to the destination. And the left
way is the way of shaitan. There are his followers and full army to misguide you. This is
all our choice.

There is one more verse We have guided a man

towards the two paths. In other verse Allah says
whoever wishes to be a believer Allah
helps him.
Let me quote an example that if you threw any person from top of the building.
He would have no choice but to fall. But if you gave him ways either to fall or descend,
he would exercise his own choice. So Allah never does injustice to the mankind. We
have been given a choice. If I am in a nightclub, I also could have been in a masjid. It
depends on me.
Here it is proved that we are directly responsible of our actions. Otherwise
Yazeed (garbage of humanity) may become innocent of his evil crimes!!! I don’t want to
pollute this sacred page by mentioning the evils of the society. They intentionally
purchased the sins instead of buying the virtues. The torments of hell are supposed to
punish them.
