footsteps of the evil one, for he is to you an avowed enemy.]

Exegeses:

This is the way of Allah that most of the time He addresses the mankind in groups. Since
the holy Quran is addressing the humanity irrespective to the cast, color, or creed.

Because the teachings of the holy Quran is for the humans who have come in this mortal
world in order to qualify other immortal world in accordance with the worldly deeds done
here. Sometimes Allah particularly talks to the groups to advise them. Sometimes Allah
when He talks He calls in the name of believers. For example

He addressed them who believe in Him. So also to a

particular groups Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala especially addresses. Other group of the
people is unbelievers it is a call who do not believe in
God. And sometimes Allah calls entire humanity. As in this holy verse we can see the
glaring example of it. And sometimes Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala especially gives His
divine attention on the prophet (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam). Allah says
Oh you the messenger. Sometimes Allah addresses
Muhammad (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam) generally. It is in order to give the lesson to
us through asking Muhammad (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam). It is the style of Allah
Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala. We have an example in this regard. Allah says

Oh you the messenger, why do you

forbid the things what Allah has made lawful for you? Though Muhammad (Salla 'Llahu
'alayhi wa sallam) a particular group is being addressed here but it is also a message for
us.
And at many places Allah directly and solely talks to the prophet (Salla 'Llahu
'alayhi wa sallam) and that message is only for the prophet (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa
sallam). For example when Allah says

“wake up in the middle of the

night and stand for the prayer.” Allah made night prayers wajib (religiously obligatory)
on Muhammad (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam). This order is not wajib (religiously
obligatory) to us. So it means to say Allah sometimes calls the attention of only
Muhammad (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam). And those orders are only for the last
prophet (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam).
In the holy verse mentioned above we are being addressed. Why this verse was
revealed? it has been described by Ibn Abbass (AS). He narrated the cause of it that a
group of Arabs used to be called Fabees An Khudaa. This was a tribe of Arab. They
actually declared some animals haram. And also they declared some plants haram for
them. And they prohibited that those plants and animals would not be consumed by
certain kind of groups. They were not allowed to eat them. And they did not provide any
logical or valid proof in this regard. Not only they declared them haram but also they
ascribed it to Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala. That these were the orders directly from Allah
Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala.
So under the circumstances, Allah revealed on Muhammad (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi
wa sallam), but it must be noted that no particular group has been addressed here. Allah
said in a general form. “ Oh mankind! Eat of that which is lawful and good on the earth,

and follow not the footsteps of Shaitan.” Here Tayyab matter and food would be
considered, which match our desires and what we really want to take and eat. Allah is
saying that you must eat really what you desire. Subhan Allah (all glory to Allah). This
message and good news is for the humans entirely.
And one important issue to discuss that we must know clearly, Halal things and

Halal ways are really beneficial and advantageous for us. This leaves a genial effect on
our psychological health. Whereas Haram things and haram executions make us
psychologically unhealthy, callous, and unintelligent that we become unable to demarcate
what is morally acceptable and what is ethically evil.
Allah further describes in the same holy verse that we should not follow the
footsteps of Shaitan. Undoubtedly he is our open enemy. In the following you can recite
that at other places of the holy Quran Allah has described that we should eat Tayyab:
1. Al-Baqara (The Cow) > [2:168
2. Al-Ma'idah (The Table Spread) > [5:88]
3. Al-Anfal (The Spoils of War)> [8:69]
4. An-Nahl (The Bee)> [16:114]
If we have been said to eat Tayyab, we have also been asked to avoid shaitan in our
practical lives. Because this is the power only in the universe who may misguide and
entice us in committing sins.
The khutuwati alshshaytani has been mentioned at many other places of the holy
Quran. In the following you can recite:
1. Al-Baqara (The Cow) > [2:208][2:168]
2. Al-An'am (The Cattle) > [6:142]
3. Al-Nour (The Light)> [24:21]
And it is also important to note that this direction came to us after when Allah told us that
we may eat Halal things. Because it was very important to tell the humanity what to eat
what to avoid. Because we have seen that alone the intellect of the human brain can not
solve all the problems of the world. So it becomes important that Allah should tell us
directly. And the same thing Allah has described in different places in the holy Quran.
Also it was important to let us remind and tell that doing other affairs of the mortal world,
we should avoid the footsteps of the evil or shaitan. It means that we should do only
affairs which have been explained to us by Allah or which produce the results compatible
with the holy Quran. Subhan Allah (all glory to Allah).
Shaitan is also known as Iblis. He was expelled from paradise. He had refused to
bow down before the prophet of Adam. But one point we should not forget that Iblis is
not only shaitan. In the form of the humans also there are many kinds of shaitan. Also
shaitan are in the groups of Jinn. It has been proved from the holy Quran. The shaitan is
not alone he has many soldiers with him. That’s why in very clear words Allah has
advised us that we should avoid all those systems and affairs which may lead us to the
destruction and negative attitude. Shaitan is our open enemy. Allah when Allah
Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala presents any advice to us He also provides sound and divine proof.
And the proofs are so mind/intellect appealing that the sane senses of the human brain

cells can not ignore them. Due to this great divinity, the holy Quran is a fountainhead of
all the purest possible intellect needed to run the high-energy universe.
In the following I am giving you the reference where the word Iblis has been
mentioned:
1. Al-Baqara (The Cow) > [2:34
2. Al-A'raf (The Heights) > [7:11]
3. Al-Hijr (The Rocky Tract)> [15:31][15:32][15:33][15:36][15:39]
4. Al-Isra (The Journey by Night)> [17:61]
5. Al-Kahf (The Cave)> [18:50]
6. Ta-Ha[20:116]
7. Ash-Shu'ara (The Poets)[26:95]
8. Suad[38:74][38:75][38:76][38:79][38:82]
And the phrase innahu lakum AAaduwwun mubeenun has been used many times in the
holy Quran. In the following you can recite:
1. Al-Baqara (The Cow) > [2:208][2:168]
2. Al-An'am (The Cattle) > [6:142]
3. Ya-Sin (Ya-Sin)> [36:60]
4. Az-Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments) > [43:62]
Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala has told us at different places that shaitan is our avowed
enemy. So that there may remain no confusion in our mind regarding the nature and
entity of shaitan. Because Iblis had refused to bow down before our prophet Adam (AS)
on the plea that he was created from ordinary clay and Iblis was created out of fire. So he
was under the impression that he was superior to Adam. Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala
gave him punishment and expelled him from the paradise. It is the reason that Iblis is our
open enemy. And Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala has told us.
And Iblis gave challenge to Allah that he would misguide the human beings. But,
Allah told him that true servants of Allah Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala would and could not be
misguided by him. And for this problem Allah has told us the ways how we can avoid
him.
There is also one hadith regarding Tayyb food

anything you see on the planet is Halal until you find a

reason not to take it. Because this universe and everything in it is Bilhaq. So anything if
it is haram there should be a cogent proof in support of it. Only Haram thing needs to
have a proof. Halal does not need any proof. And we need proof only from Allah
Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala and Muhammad (Salla 'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam).
There are different means by which a man can be misguided by Shaitan. A man

is misguided in steps. That’s why Allah says and do not

follow the footprints of Satan. And ultimately by following shaitan in degrees and steps
unconsciously a man becomes fully misguided. That’s we have been told that what a
shaitan does and how we can avoid him. For example if a man drank wine, then in steps
and gradually be becomes dipsomaniac. Together with the drinking of wine a man may
also become a womanizer. And it is very common practice in especially western
countries. And other allied small or big sins also take place in the life a man. So it is the

process of shaitan. So we should protect us from all the satanic curses consciously. So it
means to say that a chain of sins formulates and continues to become longer and longer.
Imam Jaffer Sadique (AS) said that a man sworn to slaughter his own son. Imam said
that is the evil of shaitan. Imam Baqir (AS) said

to swear in the name of anything other than Allah

Subhana-Wa-Ta’aala is also a footstep of shaitan.
Dear readers you must have understood what a moumin should do in order to live
a great life, and how we can be safe from shaitan. The servants of Allah have no fear or
fright. My Allah shower His blessings on us. (Amen!).
