Visa | in order to study in Germany, you require a student Visa. check with the German embassy or consulate in your country for the valid regulations and requirements. please make sure that within your Visa the possibility of performing a research semester for 5 months or an intership within a German company is given. Be aware that visas may take up to 3 months to be issued and require lots of documentation like Proof of Income, Health Insurance, High School or University certificates and more. therefore make sure you take this period into account when planning your travel (plane and train tickets, language course, etc.). the German Federal Foreign office has organized a website explaining the procedures and listing frequently asked questions (FaQ): www.auswaertiges-amt.de/diplo/en/Infoservice/FAQ/Studium/ Uebersicht.html you can also contact the nearest German consulate or embassy and obtain relevant information and instructions on how to proceed with your visa. also contact DaaD offices in your country. Health Insurance | in order to apply for a student Visa and obtain a residence permit in Germany you must have a valid and recognized health insurance (Krankenversicherung). For your initial days in Germany, a private or tourist insurance with at least 30.000 coverage is enough.

For eU citizens | it is possible to remain insured by the health insurance from your home country and use the so called european Health insurance card. access the following website to check if these rules apply to you: www.dvka.de/oeffentlicheSeiten/Staatenuebersicht.htm Make sure you contact the Health insurance Faculty in your country and find out which documents you need before travelling to Germany. Finding Accommodation in Aachen | Getting accommodation in aachen immediately is little challenging task. so it is highly recommended to apply for the accommodation, as soon as you decide to come to aachen. the most common type is the WG (Wohngemeinschaft), where the student rents a room in an apartment or house and shares the other facilities with other people (Mitbewohner). there is also the possibility to rent a room in one of the many dormitories (studentenwohnheim) spread all over the city. Do not forget that vacancies are limited and it may not be possible to find a room for your first semester there. in this case you can apply for a room and have your name included in a waiting list (Warteliste). Message boards at the university and at the cafeterias offer many accommodation possibilities. some websites for searching accomodation. www.wg-gesucht.de www.studenten-wg.de

the room numbering does not tell you whether the room is located at the Hohenstaufenallee 6 or Goethestrae 1. Make sure you always ask in which building the class takes place. course contents | For course contents and other necessary information regarding the subjects, please refer to the following websites: for automotive Vehicle integration www.fb6.fh-aachen.de/automobiltechnik/master-english/ for aerospace engineering: www.fb6.fh-aachen.de/luft-und-raumfahrttechnik/masterenglish Lectures/exercises/Practical Activities | the courses are divided into 3 parts: > lectures (Vorlesungen) take place at least once a week and are held by the respective professor. > exercises (bungen) take place usually every even or odd week and are held by the professor or an assistant. > practical trainings (praktika) take place usually 4 or 5 times during the course (for each course, but not all courses offer this type of activity). attendance is mandatory and you may not be allowed to write the exams if 100% attendance is not furnished. (in case you were sick or is/were not possible to attend a practical training, contact the professor as soon as possible to justify your absence)
