TECHNICAL SUMMARY SHEET Joint Support Softgels (VL156) Indications Joint Support Softgels has the following benefits:

Turmeric & Bromelain Turmerics health attributes stem from one of its naturally occurring components called curcumin. Curcumin has been shown to inhibit inflammatory mediators including leukotriene synthesis. Migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is being recognized as an important player in the development of rheumatoid arthritis. Curcumin was shown in one study to inhibit MIF5. Bromelain contains proteolytic enzymes6 and in studies showed positive effects (including reduced swelling, joint pain and/or stiffness) in 18 out of 28 patients with knee osteoarthritis7. Vitamin C Vitamin C has been extensively researched in the last few decades. Known mostly for its antioxidant capabilities, it is also important in the synthesis of the collagen matrix. Vitamin C is required for collagen formation, as well as elastin, fibronectin, proteoglycans, bone matrix and cellular procollagen secretion1. Our Product Our product contains 1500 mg glucosamine (sulfate and HCl), 1200 mg chondroitin, turmeric, bromelain, 375 mg EPA, 250 mg DHA, as well as vitamins C and E. Promotes healthy joints Provides antioxidant protection Promotes ant-inflammatory activity

Joint Health Background & Application Diet, exercise and weight reduction all affect the status of joints. A poor diet with inflammatory-rich foods, excessive wear and tear, and excessive pressure placed on joints negatively affects joint capabilities. Research shows the important role some nutrients play in improving joint health. Research Summaries Glucosamine It is well established that glucosamine plays a role in promoting and maintaining joint cartilage and possible anti-inflammatory activity. Glycoproteins in the body form part of the connective tissue matrix in joints. The polysaccharide groups in glycoproteins are partly composed of glucosamine1. These are fundamental components in allowing joints to exhibit shock-absorbing capabilities, thereby improving joint function and preventing deterioration. A 2001 study in The Lancet demonstrated improved joint space in the glucosamine-treated group versus placebo2. Chondroitin Like glucosamine, chondroitin functions to improve the joints internal structure and aid as an antiinflammatory agent. A 2004 study3 showed that orally supplemented chondroitin alone decreased pain and improved knee function in subjects. Fish Oils Comprehensive research exists regarding omega-3 fatty acids and its possible cardioprotective effects. EPA and DHA have been observed to lower triglyceride levels, and may be anti-thrombotic and anti-inflammatory1. Omega-3 fatty acid supplementation has shown beneficial results in patients with rheumatoid arthritis4.
