COVER 42
Cover 42 is the base coverage for this defense. It provides both a sound coverage scheme against multiple formations and outstanding run support. Because of the run fit possibilities of the Free Safety, this coverage allows for a nine man front against two back formations. Against the pass, Cover 42 is a match-up zone coverage where each side of the defense has a choice of combinations to best cover the opponents receivers.
