Introduction:
As a part of my MBA evening program, I have to complete my internship in a renowned financial institution named Hongkong Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. Throughout the period of my internship, I have to work in Trade and Supply Chain department of HSBC bank. I will prepare a report concentrating on this department. The report will reveal the background of the company, description of the working, findings and recommendations based on the experience gathered.
Understanding the environment, functions and management of HSBC. To learn banking more thoroughly To fulfill academic requirement To identify major strengths and weaknesses of HSBC with respect to other banks To recommend for the successful operation of the services offered by HSBC.
Research Methodology:
For preparing this paper, I have to use both Primary and Secondary data.
Primary data
Most of the necessary information has to be collected from the personal observation and one to one discussion with the relevant officials. Throughout the tenure of my internship, I will work in trade and supply chain department and it will give me a great opportunity to collect information and learn more.
Secondary data
The details of the bank and the selected department will have to be collected from secondary sources. The relevant information of other private banks has also need to be gathered from annual reports, web pages and other published documents.
The main obstacle while preparing this report will be time. As the tenure of the internship program is only three months, it is not possible to highlight everything deeply.
Confidentiality of information is another barrier that will hinder the study. Sufficient records, publications may not be available as per my requirement. Because of being private limited companies, HSBC and others banks may keep some information restricted. Therefore the comparison wont be satisfied fully.
Conclusion:
HSBC has played a key role in international trade to finance and facilitate the growing trade in many countries. With their extensive experience in international trade, HSBC is ideally placed to support the long-term growth of peoples business. They combine local service excellence with global reach, supplemented by advanced technology. One can rely upon their teams of specialists to help them achieve their business objectives.
