July 29, 2011 Sponsor: Cluster John 1. Theme: JESUS IS OUR FOOD! 2. Introduction:1 Christianity s mission consists in more than providing a free lunch to proselytes and converts. Each believer must challenge those he serves to a love and a generosity far greater than what they deem themselves capable by his way of life. At the basis of this challenge is God s irresistible invitation to a faithful relationship with him and the pledge that his love will ever be with us in the person of Jesus Christ. This coming Sunday, we will be remembering our Filipino missionaries. We remember in this Eucharistic adoration the intentions and needs for our missionaries here in our community and the recipients of their apostolate. Let us also renew our pledge to do our best to bring Jesus, our food, to others, especially those who hunger for his loving presence. 3. God, our Father, grant to your faithful gathered here/ the grace to sing a song of praise to Christ/your Son and our Savior/to the Lamb immolated for us/ and hidden in this holy mystery of the altar./ He gave himself for us/ as true bread come down from heaven./ Grant that we may always live/ because of him and for him./ Revive within us an ardent desire/ to contemplate him one day/ in the splendor of your glory/ and to participate in the eternal banquet of your Kingdom./ We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son/ who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit/ one God forever and ever.

5. Gospel Reading: [Deacon] The reading is taken from the Gospel according to Matthew.

When Jesus heard of the death of John the Baptist, he withdrew in a boat to a deserted place by himself. The crowds heard of this and followed him on foot from their towns. When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, and he cured their sick. When it was evening, the disciples approached him and said, This is a deserted place and it is already late; dismiss the crowds so that they can god to the villages and buy food for themselves. Jesus said to them, There is no need for them to go away; give them some food yourselves. But they said to him, Five loaves and two fish are all we have here. Then he said, Bring them here to me, and he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds. They all ate and were satisfied. When they picked up the fragments left over, they filled up twelve wicker baskets. Those who ate were about five thousand men, not counting women and children.

Let us pray to God our Father who abundantly provides both material and spiritual food for His children. Let our response be: Lord, hear our prayer 1. For the Holy Father, our Bishop, priests, religious, and catechists, that they may take utmost care in nourishing their own spirit first, and in preparing the spiritual food for their people, let us pray Lord, hear our prayer. 2. For our Christian community, that we may continue to participate with fervent zeal our Sunday liturgical celebrations, keeping in mind that the Lord is waiting for us with a ready banquet, let us pray Lord, hear our prayer 3. For all the missionaries, that they may be successful in their efforts to invite as many people as possible to enter God s Kingdom, and to find in it the fulfillment they yearn for, let us pray Lord, hear our prayer 4. For each of us, that the thought of Christ s love may move us to be faithful to him every day of our life, let us pray Lord, hear our prayer 5. For the many people in the world, who are starving at this very moment, that they may find in the Christian communities and nations the solidarity and generosity taught by Christ, let us pray Lord, hear our prayer 6. For all men and women who are spiritually hungry, that they may accept the nourishment God will provide for them in ways known only to Him, let us pray Lord, hear our prayer

Father, we thank You for the nourishment You have provided for us through Your Son Jesus. May we discover Jesus love every day better and love him in return. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Benediction
1. 2. 3. Deacon wears over his shoulders a white cloth. He goes to the altar, raises the monstranceand makes the sign of the cross with it in a slow and dignified manner. He puts it down, goes back to his place and removes the white cloth, then proceeds with the divine praises.
