Wireless communications deals with the introduction to radio waves, different radio wave propagation methods and microwave engineering. Total Number of Hours: 54 hours lecture LEARNING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the course, the students must be able to: A. COGNITIVE AIMS: 1. Understand the nature and characteristic of the electromagnetic spectrum specially the radio wave band and its propagation. 2. Comprehend the microwave communications system, its applications and limitations and be familiar with the microwave

tubes, transmission and reception techniques and semiconductor devices especially dedicated for microwave engineering. 3. Understand the wire telephony: the plain old telephone system; the subscriber loop; different dialling, signalling and switching techniques; and the basic of IP telephony. B. AFFECTIVE AIMS: 1. Develop and realize the importance of analytical skills with the values of learning thru lectures, interactive blogs, seatwork and quizzes. 2. Realize how the present communication systems work. 3. Apply the technical knowledge in understanding the continuously developing electronic communications technology. COURSE ASSESSENT: Teaching techniques include lectures, seatwork, assignment, quizzes and majors examinations. Interactive demo and lectures thru blog is also utilized to enrich learning. GRADING: Students must earn at least 60 percent (60%) or better to pass this course.
