Problems Fixed/New Features Added Add support for Conexant PCI Express modem (Rainier) Decrease Digital Line Detection (DLD) time from 240 ms to 120 ms to increase product reliability Increase TBR-21 line seizure margin for SmartDAA3 (CX20493). This change provides a bigger margin to pass regulatory tests in Europe. Change the names of silent Universal Installer/Uninstaller (UIU) and Universal CoInstaller (UCI) files for modem to avoid conflict with the corresponding files from Conexant Audio drivers. Files with the same name and contents may cause WHQL system failures if both modem and audio drivers are Conexant based. New naming convention for silent UIU for modem: UIU32m.exe for 32-bit OS UIU64m.exe for 64-bit OS New naming convention for UCI for modem: UCI32Mnn.dll for 32-bit OS UCI64Mnn.dll for 64-bit OS Note: M stands for modem nn stands for the last 2 digits of the UCI version. Fix an intermittent system crash (BSOD) when system goes to Stand-by mode while the modem connection is active. The problem is system specific and caused by a race condition between OS services and modem driver. System locks up when the system goes into Stand-by mode while the modem connection is active and "Allow Hybrid Sleep" settings in Power Management control panel is set to "Off". The default setting of "Allow Hybrid Sleep" in the OS is "On" and with this setting the problem doesn't show up. This issue was resolved. Fixed an intermittent failure to establish a successful connection on very difficult lines (line characteristics close to the 2A6 standard). This issue was caused by failed error correction negotiation. Improvement for V.90 connection rates on a very long line (~26 Kft). Fixed low connectivity rates or failure to connect the modem with Discrete DAA and SoftRing detection. Issue was observed during an automated test that does not close the ports between each session. The problem is not observed in a real world scenario (Dial-Up Networking, etc.) where the modem port is reopened on every dial attempt. Problem was introduced in 7.60.00 INF Changes: Failure to load INF file under DTM RC2. To attain WHQL logo for Windows 2000 and Windows XP it is required to use Windows Vista DTM. This is a Windows Vista problem introduced in DTM RC2 and fixed in DTM RTM. The workaround is to use the following: [SourceDisksNames] 1 = %WINDiskName%,,, instead of [SourceDisksNames] 1 = %WINDiskName%,Disk1

Bug check 0x9F randomly happening when resume from standby or Hibernate starting from Windows Vista Beta 2 (build 5384). When modem goes to D3, a series of events will power down the codec and enable wake on ring. Sometimes, the bus driver will already be in lower power state and reject any requests coming in. This can also cause further failures when system resumes. The fix was to change the order of events and check for certain conditions before making power management calls to avoid scenarios where there is no response form the bus driver. Modem connection is stuck when CW CID arrives and country is set to China The problem was fixed by: 1) Allowing DTMF CID only for CID type 1 2) Add a new state handler for a state that previously was not handled correctly Random CWCID failure during MOH sessions using NetWaiting Fixed by changing the method of detecting and identifying CID type 2. Failures to detect CID type 1 on some test cases in TIA/EIA 777A Changed the logic in some of the routines handling CID type 1 detection. Add support for call hopping on Windows Vista INF changes: 1) Force BUFFERS=OFF for modems that have no hardware buffers (ignore INF setting) 2) Default volume setting should be L3 for modems with buzzer CP 3) Synchronize the settings for KMixer initial delays for 32 and 64-bit systems 4) Add entries for XAudio files to make sure the CoInstaller will remove them during uninstall. 5) Ignore DaaType setting from INF for modems that supports just Discrete DAA 6) Add new INF files for all relevant OS/type/etc. combination so that call progress will route though buzzer when sound driver is disabled on a system with SmartSP board with buzzer. 7) For HDAUDIO modem, UIPATH in default INFs should use HDAUDIO instead of PCI 8) Add HDAUDIO prefix to ProductName definition for HDAUDIO modem in default INFs. 9) Remove obsolete commented out lines referring to csacpl.cpl 10) Failure to load INF file under DTM RC2 This is a Microsoft problem introduced in DTM RC2. The workaround is to use [SourceDisksNames] 1 = %WINDiskName%,,, instead of [SourceDisksNames] 1 = %WINDiskName%,Disk1

Version 7.56.00
Problems Fixed/New Features Added System lock up when going to S3 or hibernation with HDA modem. The modem was changed to work around a system lock seen on a specific system. The lock was seen while returning from, or going to, a low power system state. The modem was found to be in a loop waiting for the bus driver. The change in the modem is to remove an indefinite wait state in the case where the bus driver is unavailable. This allows the system to return or enter the desired state without locking up. This does not ensure that the modem will work, as the bus driver must be available for proper modem operation. Operating System Hardware Platform

In the failing condition the modem port open during installation would cause a system failure.
Version 7.53.00
Problems Fixed/New Features Added Operating System Hardware Platform The modem was changed to prevent a system failure seen during Driver Verifier NDIS-Standby Open test. The modem driver was attempting to access information that had expired. This access of invalid information causes the system to blue screen. The change adds WDM All conditional checks on the information to ensure that they are valid prior to access. The blue screen indicates that the failure was probably caused by HSF_CNXT.sys. The modem was changed to implement a work around for an issue seen with SmartHSF4 (Bryce) when attempting WOR from S4. The symptom was that the system was no longer responsive after the RING was detected and the system begins to return from S4. The problem was found to be rooted in the status of the PLL used for the clock signal. In the failure mode the PLL was not configured to run. The work around is to ensure that the PLL is running in the routine used to return from the low power state. Since the SmartDAA4 does not have more than one power mode, it was assumed that the PLL (clock) would be running while the modem is active. The change is to remove the assumption and to verify the clock is running when the modem is directed to return from the low power state.

Version 7.44.00
Problems Fixed/New Features Added The modem driver was changed to place the modem back on hook when presented with the line conditions associated with the power cross test. This specific test is part of the Brazilian modem qualification tests. A fix was implemented to correct gain settings in the codec after connecting at V.90 on certain lines. When the modem is placed back on hook the gain settings are reset as to allow proper ring detection. A gain switch change was also implemented that corrected a failure to detect caller ID. The In order to detect an incoming ring signal and then the CID signal to follow, the codec gains must switch from low to high gain and then back to low. This functionality has been fixed in this version of the HSF. This change applies to discrete DAA products using softring. Specifically this fix applies to lead-free HSFi for ring detection and to Teton for ring detection and caller ID. Conexant Confidential 17 Operating System Windows XP AMD64 Hardware Platform HSF

Ring detection works fine after coming out of S3 via WOR. When h/w ring is enabled, ring detection works fine. Bryce specific fix, when using PLL configuration, on certain systems DIB clock is not ON and therefore, driver can not access LSD. Conexant Confidential 18 Operating System Hardware Platform

Problems Fixed/New Features Added When we dial out on Via platforms, sometimes the system will freeze & display black screen Startup failure with certain Venice (HAL LSD) devices Using HyperTerminal, dial out and while the Modem is still off-hook, go to suspend mode(S3). The system closes all applications including HyperTerminal, screen blank out and appears ready to suspend but power is never turned off and the hard disk remains spinning. If the Modem is not in off-hook state, then these is no problem. Fixed by closing the steam in KMixer during shutdown. Fixed sample rate converter and changed sample rate of audio stream from 48 KHz to 16 KHz for XAudio on Windows Vista.

Version 7.40.00
Problems Fixed/New Features Added Integration of Windows Vista Speakerphone code for future builds. Support for HDA modems on nVidia chipsets is needed in the DOS test. Japan CID is not detected with Zion boards. Connect Phone line simulator for CID-4Lines. Open Hyperterminal and issue AT+GCI=0, AT+VCID=1. Make a call to Zion and observe it detect RING but no CID. Change Phone line simulator for TLS-5, issue AT+GCI=B5, AT+VCID=1. Make a call to Zion and observe it detect RING and CID. When port is open and system goes to S3, Lassen can not dial after resume from S3. Use a single INF to install both modem and speakerphone components When modem goes off-hook, a Pop Noise can be heard so we need to apply 800 ms silent time after off-hook to remove the pop noise. Sample Rate Converter is required if audio driver does not support sample rate of modem stream. Taiwan CID (PreRing DTMF) only works for the first call. If you drop the line and call again, CID is not seen. Same scenario repeats after reboot. Fixed by adding a call to update pre ring indicator at the end of DTMF CLID which will setup CID RX. Teton has ring detection issues that were introduced in 7.33.00. Problems Fixed in v7.23.00 No call progress sound was heard with 64bit, or if CSD\KMixerDataInitialDelay changed from 0x9 to 0xC in the INF, then a truncated sound was heard. FIFO size increased, and under run detection handled differently for 64bit. 64bit requires the KMixerDataInitialDelay to be set to 0xC. In a manufacturing test environment, the port open was not failing if the DAA module was not populated. The modem disconnects during ESD test using MDC1.5. The fix is to block resets. On the notebook the ground bounces look to the device like reset. The device reset caused the disconnections. Default driver should not have any reference to V.92 since it does not support any of the V.92 features. Known Issues in V7.20.00 Guiu Setup will show 2 devices upon installations on AC-Link modem with HDAudio PnPID include in the INF's. That is because the tool we use to scan the bus (UIUSYS.SYS) doesn't yet know about HDAUDIO bus devices. This will be resolved and updated. There is no current impact other than a misleading failure message regarding the HDAudio installation when installing on an AC-Link platform. Un-install/re-install without reboot fails. The installation fails if you uninstall the modem, and immediately re-install. We are looking at this issue, and will resolve it for the next release. OCP does not pop-up on HDAudio platform, ok on AC-Link when a Digital Line event occurs. This does not affect the Digital Over Current protection, it just results in a No Dial tone message as a dialtermination reason. This will be resolved for the next release.
