Thank you for purchasing the DISC-GO-ROBOTO Automated Optical Disc

Resurfacing and Repair Machine. Please take a few minutes to read through this
manual. Included are tips and techniques drawn from years of disc repair experience
that will help you achieve the best results from your new equipment.
If you have any questions concerning the operation or maintenance of this machine,
please do not hesitate to visit our website at www.discgotech.com or if within

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Please read through this entire manual and retain it for future reference.
To prevent possible personal injury and/or equipment damage, the following basic
precautions should always be observed:
Do: Ensure your DISC-GO-ROBOTO is installed in a safe and suitable
location:
indoors, on a flat level surface at least 24”x24” (61cm x 61cm) in size
away from heat sources such as gas or electric heaters
protected from exposure to water or moisture
provided with its own grounded electrical circuit
Do: Use close supervision if this machine is to be operated near children.
Do: Unplug your DISC-GO-ROBOTO from the AC outlet when not in use
and before changing consumable supplies (i.e. cartridge, pads).
Do: Avoid contact with moving parts.
Do not use this equipment for other than its intended purpose. The use of
attachments, supplies or accessory equipment not recommended or
sold by Disc Go Technologies Inc. may cause equipment damage
and/or personal injury and will void the warranty for the unit.
Do not use with a damaged cord or plug. If your DISC-GO-ROBOTO is not
working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors or
otherwise exposed to water, contact our Customer Service Department
for service support information.
Do not install or operate your DISC-GO-ROBOTO in an environment containing
flammable or explosive gas!
Do not allow objects to penetrate into the machine through the fan grating or
other exterior openings.
Do not move your DISC-GO-ROBOTO while the lid is open – damage or injury
may result if the lid should fall.
Do not move your DISC-GO-ROBOTO with a Cartridge installed! If the machine
is inadvertently tipped, polish may leak from the cartridge.

• The disc sensor is out of calibration.
Solution:
Figure 30: Input Stack Empty Message
A) Press the EJECT button and verify whether a disc is on the turntable.
This message occurs when the DISC-GO-ROBOTO has finished repairing all
discs in the Input Spindle (in this case it is not an error). It may also be displayed B) If a disc is present, refer to the Sensor Settings calibration instructions on

Solution:
If the Input Spindle is NOT empty:

A) Turn your DISC-GO-ROBOTO off.

B) Check that the Input Spindle is centred on its positioning guide, that the

B) Remove all discs from the Output Spindle.
a) Turn your DISC-GO-ROBOTO off.

C) Press the START button to continue repairing discs. b) Open the lid (refer to the “Lid Locking Mechanism“ section on Page 9) and

e) Turn the power back on and continue with disc repairs.

2) Check for signs that polish is flowing onto the disc:

If the flow of polish onto the disc is impeded, the polishing pads will generate

Solution:
“DISC-GO-SOLO”.
Solution: A) Verify the Repair Cartridge is new.

the operating mode to “ROBOTO”.
D) Resume repairing discs.
D) Resume repairing discs.

Problem: The DISC-GO-ROBOTO does not repair discs as well as it did when I
first received it.
Solution:
The quality of the repair process is highly dependent on the quality of the
polishing materials used. Both polish and polishing pads have a fixed usage
life and must be replaced after every 160 light repairs, or 100 medium repairs,
or 60 heavy repairs, or any proportional combination thereof.
A) Press the Lid Release button and open the lid of your DISC-GO-
ROBOTO. Remove both polishing pads.
B) Replace the Repair Cartridge with a Cleaning Cartridge.
C) Press START to run a cleaning cycle (see DISC-GO-ROBOTO
Maintenance).
D) Once the cleaning cycle is complete, replace the Cleaning Cartridge with
the Repair Cartridge, install new polishing pads and resume repairing
discs.

Problem: The DISC-GO-ARM is dropping discs during transfer.

Solution:
A) Inspect the discs on the Input Spindle to ensure that they are dry and
clean and do not contain paper labels. Remove any sticky or tacky
substances with a damp, low abrasion cloth and allow the discs to dry.
B) Inspect and clean the Vacuum Pick-up Head. A squirt of Final Spray can
be used to remove any polish build-up, especially on the inner and outer
edges.
C) Ensure that the Input and Output Spindles are in the correct mounting
positions. Check that the discs are not hitting the sides of the Input
Spindle during loading. If they are, refer to the alignment procedures of
the Arm Configuration section on Page 19.
D) Press START and resume repairing discs.

DISC REPAIR FACTS How Does Disc Repair Work On Scratched Discs?
As mentioned above, Layer 1 of a Compact Disc is made of Polycarbonate plastic,

Lacquer is dripped onto the disc and spun at high

This seals in the foil, but offers little or no Figure 35– Disc Layers

Cracks - Inspect the disc first for signs of cracks. Typically, discs will start to split
from the inside ring, and work towards the outer edge. Give the disc a very slight
bend to see the cracks more clearly. Occasionally, cracks will start from the outer
edge, or may be located in the centre of the reading area. If any crack is found, the

Dents – Dents are large indentations on either side of the disc. Dents will sometimes

being stepped on, being bitten by a pet, or placing heavy sharp objects onto the disc.
Dents can sometimes be seen protruding through the other side of the disc.

Scratch Damage Levels
The level of scratch damage can be difficult to determine. Some discs may have
scratches covering the surface of the disc, but the scratches may not be very deep.
Other discs may look great, except for one large scratch. Damage levels are
determined by the depth of the scratch, not the number of scratches. The deeper the
scratch, the longer it will take to be removed. Please refer to the pictures below for
some typical examples of light, medium and heavy scratch damage.
