Top 5 Worst Household Odors And How To Handle Them Dont Be Fuelish With
(NAPSI)Call them Americas Most Unwanted. Theyve been known to hold entire households hostage, causing shortness of breath, nausea and panic in their victims. At the very least, they keep home sweet home from smelling so sweet. The culprits are household odors and these are the worst of the worst. Survey Of Stinks According to a recent nationwide survey, more than eight out of 10 Americans think rotting garbage or garbage can odor is the most offensive household smell. Rounding out the top five, in order, were pet odors, mold, body odor/sweat and tobacco odor. Nearly 70 percent of all respondents ranked these five smells as the worst smells in the home, with significantly more women (75 percent) turning their noses up at tobacco odors as compared to men (59 percent). How To End Odors Fortunately for men and women, simply vacuuming can eliminate many household odors. Because odors are commonly trapped in carpets, these foul five are some of the most notoriously difficult to eliminate, said Leiah Nhem, product manager for ARM & HAMMER vacuum accessories. Vacuuming is an important first step in safely and naturally eliminating these odors from your home. Instead of covering up the offensive odors, ARM & HAMMER vacuum accessories eliminate smells through the natural odor-fighting power of baking soda. As air moves through the vacuum, the odor Wash dish sponges in the dishwasher. Mix two teaspoons of baking soda with two cups of water in a trigger spray bottle and spray the room with the mixture whenever it needs it. A sprinkle of baking soda dissolves odors in garbage cans, diaper pails, boots and litter boxes, too. If you have a garbage disposer, put lemon or orange rinds down it every month or so. Clean out the refrigerator regularly to remove spoiled food and put a new, open box of baking soda in every four months. For more information, check out www. armhammervac.com.

Getting rid of some of the worst may now be a bit easier. comes in contact with baking soda crystals that are bonded to the bags and filters. The odor is then permanently sealed inside the crystalsturning even the most offending odor particle into a new, non-odorous form. Vacuums with a HEPA filter trap and remove odor-causing particles such as pet dander, mold spores, dust and other allergens up to 75 times smaller than a human hair. These microscopic fragments can ferment in carpeting and upholstery, creating the acidic fumes that result in unpleasant odors. Some of the biggest odor complaints from the survey are smells that can originate from the tiniest of particles, such as mold or pet hair. These stubborn odors reappear after traditional remedies such as air fresheners or candles lose their strength, but using odor-eliminating vacuum bags and filters can help permanentlyand naturallyneutralize odors so theyre gone for good. Other Odor Remedies Other ways to deodorize your house include: Open a box of baking soda and place it on a shelf in the room.

The Review: The Inn at Pocono Manor, Pocono Manor, PA

By Doreen Rutherford Wow, was my first thought when I finished my weekend stay at the Inn at Pocono Manor in Pocono Manor, PA. This inn is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, is a National Historic District and has been welcoming guests for more than 100 years. Founded by the Quakers in 1900, this tract of land on the crest of Little Pocono Mountain spans 3000 acres. The manor is undergoing major restorations and is extremely hospitable and comfortable. All of the work being done is tasteful and does not interfere with your stay at all. The historic Quaker homes that can be seen as you drive into the property are very special and have graced the contents of many major magazines. They are full of history and character as well as the manor. The main manor has 237 rooms, 19 meeting and banquet rooms, a full

service restaurant, lounge with happy hour specials and entertainment, an indoor and outdoor pool, fitness room, gift shop and arcade even their own post office! There is plenty for everyone to do, child or adult. Onsite activities are so numerous, I was amazed to see cross country skiing, dog sledding, ice skating, snowshoeing and snowmobiling to name the winter sports. But summer time

offers badminton, volleyball, shuffleboard, bocce ball, ping pong, ATV rentals and tours, horseback riding, horse drawn carriage rides, archery, Orvis-approved rod and gun club, hiking, biking, Segway rentals, driving range and pro shop, 36 holes of championship golf and fly fishing. This is a really large list of activities to choose from, so if you dont know what you want to do, the

spot for you is at their state of the art Laurel Spa. They are a professional spa with gracious services ranging from facials, massages, manicures and pedicures, to signature treatments, such as their chocolate full body wrap, salt scrub or steam room. Services are for both men and women, and they cater to groups, as well. When I went to the Laurel Spa I had the one-hour, deep tissue massage, and it

was the best. The facility is elegant with extensive attention paid to your comfort and needs. During my stay, the dining and entertainment at the Manor was exceptional. In the morning, I was so happy to see an elegant dining room that serves a full breakfast buffet fit for a queen, and then was able to experience at night the Lamplighter Lounge with full bar and entertainment. There are several other outlets for food and beverage on property, as well. After dinner, I enjoyed a carriage ride around the grounds and was able to see the beautiful golf course and historic Quaker homes. As for activites, I tried my hand at skeet shooting. Now, this is not my regular activity, but they took me in and showed me the

ropes. I yelled pull and shot until I soon learned it was not an emerging talent of mine. I rendered my arms to the next person and got to watch how it was really done. However, it was a lot of fun to do something new. The horseback rides were well organized and had some of the finest dude riding horses I have seen. The Inn at Pocono Manor caters to weddings and family reunions, as well as conferences and even romantic weekend escapes. This is a great place to stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone. It is a short drive up to the Poconos from Blairstown and relaxation and fun will be found by all who choose to go to The Inn at Pocono Manor.
