Choose one of the tasks below to complete for your spring term project.

In your project you should include information about varied Muslim beliefs and the impact/influence these can have on individuals and communities. Look at the table below to check the skills needed for each level. Remember that explanation and comparison are important. 1. Write a magazine article about what life is like for teenage Muslims in Britain today. Include imaginary interviews with Muslims from different backgrounds. 2. Design a collection of clothing (at least 4 complete outfits) that would be suitable for Muslim teenagers to wear. Include a written explanation about how each design would fulfil teachings from the Quran/Hadith and whether some Muslim groups would find the design more acceptable than others. 3. Make a short movie or animation about what life is like for teenage Muslims today. Include some imaginary interviews with Muslims/young people from different backgrounds. 4. Write a story about a Muslim teenager moving to Britain. Include information about how their beliefs/practices compare to other people they meet. 5. Create a piece of artwork about what life is like for teenage Muslims in Britain today. Include a written explanation about your piece, explaining the symbolism and images you have used. 6. Write a collection of poetry that expresses different views and experiences of modern Muslims. You could also include the views of non-Muslims.

Learning about religion


You will be working at level 3 if you use some religious terms to describe some key Muslim beliefs. You will be working at level 4 if you use some religious terms to describe some similarities and differences in the way Muslims interpret religious teachings and express them in their daily life. You will be working at level 5 if you can explain how these beliefs effect the lives of believers in different ways. you can explain how different people use the Quran to support their actions. You will be working at level 6 if you use religious language to explain why Muslims from different backgrounds understand teachings from the Quran in different ways. you can explain why different groups of Muslims hold different beliefs and practices. You will be working at level 7 if you account for the influence of cultural practices through history and show how these may have changed the way in which Muslims live today. you can explain why the consequences of belonging to a faith are not the same for all people of the Muslim faith.

The task you choose should take you approximately 3 hours to complete. We advise that you start this task in plenty of time and avoid leaving it all to the last minute. See your teacher if you are unsure about any part of the project.
