Festival Performers

Vic Wotherspoon: A very talented and knowledgeable Acoustic Artist who has performed with the greats in this contemporary venue. Vic often holds workshops where he performs to teach and encourage younger musicians. He performs all over the U.S. and Canada. Vic has CDs and DVDs for sale. Jay Cunningham: A very talented Acoustic Artist. Jay has been singing and performing in festivals and coffeehouses throughout New England, his rendition of classics and original songs make an entertaining show. Jay is happy to share his knowledge and technical skills. He is a supporter of Red Road functions. Dawna Hammers: Has a special connection with the people of the earth, their music and dance. She is gifted with the ability to perform well with several instruments. Dawna has studied with many teachers all over the world and has appeared on many CDs. Dawna has CDs for sale. Ron Perry: A native American Flute maker and performer as well as a keyboard musician and guitarist. He has taught numerous people to make and play Native American flutes. Michael Disnard: A Micmac Flutist as well as other instruments, Michael has been performing in the Seattle, Oregon area and has really made an impression. Corey Spirit Hawk: Is fifteen years old and loves music. He has put his heart into drumming ever since he was a toddler. He also plays the Native Flute, the guitar, and sings well. When he isnt making music he is dancing traditional, fancy, Grass and Hoop. His brother, Forest, will be 13 years old in August. He has been singing and drumming for most of his life. Like his brother Corey, Forest dances traditional, grass and Hoop.

Adrian Ventura: Mayan from Guatemala; helps his people in the greater New Bedford, Massachusetts area, a performer and practitioner of traditional Mayan Culture. Accompanying him are the women of Oxib Batz (three threads) who are members of a non-profit organization based in New Bedford, Massachusetts and devoted to preserving their traditional handcrafts, particularly weaving. Watch as they dance in traditional clothing with family and friends and perform Rey Kiche a traditional dance of the king from the indigenous Maya from Guatemala. Jonathan Perry: Wampanoag, Cherikee/Chocktaw. Jonathan is a founding member of the Iron River Singers based in Southeastern Massachusetts, a northern style drum group that has performed for over 20 years. He is also a member of the Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers as well as an accomplished actor and speaker. David Sanipas: Micmac fifth generation flute maker and player and an accomplished storyteller. Has helped many people of all nations as a speker and friend. Peter Searching Owl: Mohawk. Lives in New Hampshire. His Mohawk Ancestry influences his song writing and performances, with central themes of unity and respect. Peter has another son Four Winds who lives in Maryland with his wife and their toddler son. Patrick Barrow: Attends the College of Santa Fe, NM where he studies music and art. He is proficient with a number of instruments including guitar, piano, didgeridoo, bodhran and his own voice. He will be performing a combination of didgeridoo, overtone singing, throat singing, and storytelling. Norman Schneider: and friends will be performing as Earth Spirit in a program of Australian Aboriginal Instruments and stories of the Dream Time Legends. They bring an Aboriginal Experience from another country. Like the American Indians the Aboriginals of Australia have lost a lot of their past culture do too

outsiders knowing what is best for them. The members of Earth Spirit are Norman Schneider (playing Yadaki, clicl sticks, boomerang, and Bull Roar); Hibiscus Rose and Iyawata Schneider (storytelling and dance). James Hakenson: Aquinnah Wampanoag. Has the privilege to work in his culture and learns every day. A gifted singer and drummer and a great person to learn from. Wesley James: Aquinnah Wampanoag. Wesley is a musician who has many years of experience on stage performing many styles of contemporary music. His latest avenue is an occipella harmony group. Always a joy whether performing standards or contemporary music.
