Journal Article Warm Welcome for PDOP teams in Cateel

Mati, Davao Oriental with the intent of extending the Armys Peace and Development Outreach Program to the entire Province of Davao Oriental, the Municipality of Cateel finally accepts the Peace & Development Teams (PDTs) from 67th Infantry Battalion on July 11, 2011 during their Send-off Ceremony in front of the Municipal Hall of Cateel. Col Reuben S Basiao, commander of 67IB said that prior to send-off ceremony, there were series of consultations and dialogues with the Heads of Offices of the Local Government Unit and the Association of Punong Barangay of Cateel. As part of the ceremony, Honorable Camilo T. Nuez, Municipal Mayor of Cateel, Davao Oriental and Major Abosama F Usman, Executive Officer of the 67 th Infantry Battalion, affixed their signatures on the Memorandum of Understanding between the Local Government Unit of Cateel and the 67th Infantry Battalion, stating therein the obligations of both parties during the conduct and the sustainment of the Peace and Development Outreach Program. He also added, We would like to appreciate and were glad na gihimo ng kanatong Philippine Army karong adlaw hantod na pila ka adlaw ng stay nila sa tagsa-tagsa na barangay. Sabtan isab ng kanatong Philippine Army, na kami sa Munisipyo, Municipal Officials, andam na mu-assister, na mutabang yang mga panihanglan ng kanatong Philippine Army ngadto na madeploy sila sa tagsa-tagsang barangay. More or less 150 municipal officials and employees, department heads of local government agencies in Cateel attended the said ceremony. The acceptance shown by Cateeleos signifies their full support and assistance to the 67th Infantry Battalions Peace and Development Teams. Every activity is a team effort. With the support of the municipality and other agencies, all programs will be successful and made possible. Col Basiao said. This is a new peace and development program focusing on building communities rather than pursuing the rebels, he added.
