Deaf & Hearing Impaired (HI) The deaf are those persons in whom the sense of hearing is nonfunctional for ordinary purposes of life i.e. total loss of hearing in both ears. They do not hear, understand sounds at all even with amplified speech. Hearing impairment means loss of sixty decibels or more in the better ear in the conversational range of frequencies. Orthopaedically Challenged (OC) Locomotor Disability means disability of bones, joints or muscles leading to substantial restriction of the movement of the limbs or any form of cerebral palsy. Cerebral Palsy means a group of non-progressive conditions of person characterized by abnormal motor control posture resulting from brain insult or injuries occurring in the pre-natal, peri-natal or infant period of development. All the cases of Orthopaedically Challenged Persons would be covered under the category of Locomotor disability or cerebral palsy. Guidelines for Persons With Disabilities using a Scribe The visually impaired candidates and candidates whose writing speed is affected by cerebral palsy can use their own scribe at their cost during the written examination. In all such cases where a scribe is used, the following rules will apply: The candidate will have to arrange his own scribe at his/her own cost. The academic qualification of the scribe should be one grade lower than the stipulated criteria. The scribe should posses lesser marks than the candidates and not more than 60% marks in his/her own academic stream. The scribe may be from any academic stream. Both the candidates as well as scribes will have to give a suitable undertaking confirming that the scribe fulfils all the stipulated eligibility criteria for a scribe mentioned above. Further in case it later transpires that he/she did not fulfill any laid down eligibility criteria or suppressed material facts the candidature of the applicant will stand cancelled, irrespective of the result of the written examination. Such candidates who use a scribe shall be eligible for extra time of 20 minutes for every hour of the examination. C. E. PENALTY FOR WRONG ANSWERS :There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Test. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If the total of the penalty for a test is in fraction, the marks obtained will be rounded off to the nearest integer, i.e. if fraction exceeds by 0.50 or more, it will be rounded off to next higher integer. If for any question a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as wrong even if one of the given answers happens to be right and there will be the same penalty of 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question deducted as penalty. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is given by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question. F. STANDARDIZED SCORES : The corrected scores obtained by each of the candidates will further be converted into standardized scores following Linear Conversion Method. G. CUT OFF SCORE :Each candidate will have to secure a minimum standardized score in each of the tests to qualify in the written examination and to be considered for vacancies in the participating banks. The cut-off points will be decided based on the average (Average Standard Deviation for General category candidates and Average Standard Deviation for Reserved Category candidates). H. CWE SCORE CARD : IBPS will print the Score Cards for each of the qualifying candidates and will send the same by Registered/ Speed post to each candidate at the correspondence address specified in his/ her online application. I. VALIDITY OF CWE SCORE CARD : Score Cards issued by IBPS will be valid for one year from the date of issue of the Score Card. Candidates can appear in subsequent examination(s) to enhance their scores if they so desire. J. EXAMINATION CENTERS : (i) The written examination will be conducted in venues across many centres in India. Annexure II Guidelines for scanning and Upload of Photograph & Signature Before applying online a candidate will be required to have a scanned (digital) image of his/her photograph and signature as per the specifications given below. Photograph Image: - Photograph must be a recent passport style colour picture. - Make sure that the picture is in colour, taken against a light-coloured, preferably white, background. - Look straight at the camera with a relaxed face - If the picture is taken on a sunny day, have the sun behind you, or place yourself in the shade, so that you are not squinting and there are no harsh shadows - If you have to use flash, ensure theres no red-eye - If you wear glasses make sure that there are no reflections and your eyes can be clearly seen. - Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable. Religious headwear is allowed but it must not cover your face. - Dimensions 200 x 230 pixels (preferred) - Size of file should be between 20kb50 kb - Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 50kb. If the size of the file is more than 50 kb, then adjust the settings of the scanner such as the DPI resolution, no. of colours etc., during the process of scanning. MEDICAL EXAMINATION: Candidates recommended by the Service Selection Board will undergo medical examination by a Board of Service Medical Officers. Women candidates recommended by Service Selection Board will undergo medical examination by a medical board of male/female doctors/ Specialists/Gynaeocologist. However, there will be a Lady Medical Officer as member the Medical Board for female candidates. Only those candidates will be admitted to the Academy who are declared fit by the Special Medical Board, However, the candidates declared unfit will be intimated by the President of the Special Medical Board and procedure for request for Appeal Medical Board (AMB) will also be intimated to the candidates. Candidates who are unfit may apply for Appeal Medical Board (AMB) to be completed within 42 days of SMB and may request for Review Medical Board .(RMB) within 1 day of completion of Appeal Medical Board. Candidates for AMB shall automatically report to the hospital opted by them on any working day, keeping in view the time taken by postal authorities to deliver their Medical documents at the Hospital for medical examination. No. call shall be given by the opted hospital and no correspondence in this regard shall be entertained. PHYSICAL STANDARD: Candidates meeting height/weight and visual standard as per existing regulations will only be accepted. (a) Relaxation in Height: The minimum acceptable height is -157.5 cms. For Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of North Eastern region af India, Garhwal and Kumanon, the minimum acceptable height will be 5 cms less. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cms.(b) VISUAL STANDARDS: (i) The minimum acceptable visual acuity are: Distant Vision (corrected) better eye 6/6, worse eye 6/18, myopia of not more than minus 3.50 for men and 5.50 for womens including astigmatism. (ii) Candidates who have under-gone or have the evidence of having undergone Radial Keratotomy to improve the visual acuity, will be permanently rejected; also candidates aged 20 years or above who have undergone Laser Surgery for correction of refractive error will be considered for commission in Army If they fulfill following criteria :-(i) Uncomplicated stable LASIK/Excimer (PRK) laser procedure done for. Myopia or Hypermetropia, with stable refraction for a period of six months after the procedure(ii) A healthy retina (iii) Corrected vision should be 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in worse eye, with maximum residual refraction of : 1.50 in any meridian for myopia or hypermetropia. (iv) Axial length within permissible limits. 9. Physcial Fitness Standards OTA: Prospective candidates are advised to exercise and keep themselves physically fit, in order to avoid any injury due to the rigorous physical training at Officers Training Academy. In order to be able to adjust to the regime there, candidates are advised to achieve following standard before joining the OTA, if finally selected:- (a) Running 2.4 km in 15 minutes, (b) Push Ups-13 Nos. (c) Sit Ups-25 Nos. (d) Chin Ups 6 Nos. (e) Rope Climbing 3-4 Meters. 10. Training : Approximately 11 months training at OTA, Chennai, On successful completionof which Candidates will be granted commission in the rank of Lt. The final allocation of Arms/ Services will be made prior to passing out of Gentleman Cadets/Lady Cadets from OTA. 11. Terms and Conditions pf Service : (a) Period of Probation: An officer will be on probation for a period of 6 months from the date he/she receives his commission. If he/she is reported on within the probationary period as unsuitable to retain his/her commission, his/her services may be terminated any time whether before or after the expiry of the probationary period (b) Posting: Personnel granted Short Service Commission are liable to serve anywhere in India and abroad. Tenure of Engagement. Officers will be required to serve for ten years extendable by a further period of four yeas, subject to their performance having been found fit for extension of tenure and having given option for the service. Male Officers who are willing to continuous to services in Army after the expiry of 10 years in Short Service Commision may if eligible and suitable'in all respects be considered for Grant of Permanent Commission in accordance with the relevant rules, (d) Termination of Commission : An officer granted Short service commission" will be liable to serve for ten years but his Commission may be terminated at any time by the Government of India for (i) misconduct or if his/her services are found to be unsatisfactory, or (ii) On account of medical unfitness, or (iii) if his/her services are "no longer required, or (iv) -if he/she fails to qualify in any prescribed test or course, (v) An officer may on giving 3 months notice be permitted to resign his/her commission on compassionate grounds of which the Government of India will be the sole judge. An officer who is permitted to resign his/her commission on compassionate grounds will not be eligible for terminal gratuity.(e) Gratuity: SSC Officers coming from civil life on expiry of their 10 years term are entitled to terminal gratuity @1/2 month's emoluments for each completed six monthly period of Services.(f) Reserve Liability: On being released on the expiry of 10 years of Short Service Commission or extension thereof they will carry a reserve liability for a period of five years or upto the age of 40 years whichever is earlier.(Note: All other services conditions of Short Service Commission (NT) will be applicable).12. PAY ALLOWANCES AND OTHERBENEFITS APPLICABLE: During the period of training the candidate will be given a stipend of Rs. 21,000/- p.m. (Rs.15,000/- pay In Pay Band plus Grade Pay Rs. 5,400/ -). On completion of training. Officer are commissioned at Lt and entitled to the pay band of Rs 15,600-39,000 with Grade Pay of Rs. 5,400/- and Military service Pay of Rs 6,000/-. Those who get medically boarded out of Academy on account of disability, the disability cover provided for 100 per cent disability win be Rs 20 lac which is proportionately reduced upto Rs 4 lac for 20 percent disability. However, for (fess than 20 per cent disability, no disability benefits is eligible but an Ex-Gratia Grant of Rs 50,000/- will be paid. Disability due to alcoholism, drug addiction and due to the diseases of pre-enrolment origin will not qualify for disability benefit and Ex- Gratia Grant. In addition, Gentleman cadet withdrawn on disciplinary grounds or a undesirable or voluntarily leaves the Academy will also not be eligible for disability benefits and ExGratia Grant. Subscription at the rate of Rs. 4,000/- will have to be paid in advance on monthly basis by the Gentleman Cadets who are in receipt of stipend and will become members of the main Army Group Insurance Scheme as applicable to Regular Army Officers. Regular Officers on superannuation may be employed with the Army as re-employed Officers upto the age of 58 years. 13. CHANGE IN INTERVIEW DATES: (a) Request for change of SSB interview dates will not be accepted. Opportunities to become a Commissioned Officer also exist for those airmen who qualify the prescribed examinations, later during their service career. SELECTION PROCEDURE : 13. Written Test. Eligible candidates will be sent Admit Cards to appear for the test scheduled to be held during November 2011 at the examination centres listed at paragraph 19. Candidates will be tested in English, Physics and Mathematics as per CBSE syllabus of AISSCE. Question papers will be objective type and bilingual (English & Hindi),except English Paper. Duration of Written Test will be 60 minutes. CANDIDATES ARE TO QUALIFY IN EACH PAPER SEPARATELY. Results of the written test will be declared on the same day. 14. Physical Fitness Test (PFT). All candidates who pass the written test are to undergo Physical Fitness Test (PFT) on the same or the next day. PPT consists of a 1.6 Km run to be completed within 8 minutes. Candidates completing the, PFT in less than 7 minutes 30 seconds will be awarded additional marks on a sliding, scale. Candidates are advised to bring their sports shoes and shorts. 15. Interview. Candidates who have passed the written test and PFT will be interviewed. Working knowledge of English is a prerequisite. 16. Trade Allocation Test (TAT). Candidates of Group 'X' (Technical) trades who qualify in interview are to undergo Trade Allocation Test for bifurcation into Mechanical and Electronics system. Specific trade allotment within these streams will be carried out at Basic Training Institute (BTI), Air Force (Belgaum). 17. MEDICAL EXAMINATION. Candidates who qualify in the interview will be medically examined. Medical Examination will be conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per Indian Air Force medical standards. Note: Candidates are advised to get tartar and stains removed from their teeth before appearing for the Written Test Ears should be free of wax. GENERAL : 18.
