Specialisation Internship Guidelines for Aug. 2010-12 Batch Students 1. The Internship is scheduled from 21st April 2011 to 20th July 2011. Students have to be in continuous contact with their faculty guides either in person, e-mail or over phone to update the progress of their work. The students have to submit their proposal and fortnightly reports through email in the enclosed formats within the scheduled time. Additional sheets can be used to fill the details where ever necessary. Faculty will keep a record of such contacts and monitor the work in progress of the students. 2. Students are to ensure that their Email ids and contacts available with their faculty guides. The time period for IIP is 21st April 2011 to 20th July 2011. Schedule of Activities:

Scope of Work
Task:The task assigned to me here is to study the investment policies being followed by the organization regarding the premium funds, and make recommendations for any possible changes in them within the overall regulatory framework, to increase the profitability of the company.I have also being asked asked to go through the financial statements and evaluate its performance and profitability At the same time it also includes various plans taken by the company to increase its market share and profitability in the industry as a whole. Purpose of the project:The purpose of the project is to look into the performance and profitability of the company ever since its inception in 2006 and comparison with the other private sector players. Within this overall objective the project intends to analyse the performance of various products launched by the company and their comparison with similar products of other companies. There will be special focus on the ULIP plans introduced by the life insurance companies with a special reference to my company. The project will look into various factors determining the profitability of Bharti Axa Life Insurance Company. The study will analyse the effect of various products including ULIPs on the overall profitability scenario of the company. After the analysis of the above mentioned issues the project intends to give some suggestions and recommendations to enhance the performance and profitability of the company. Methodology used:The study is to be based on the secondary data available on the official websites of various life insurance companies and of IRDA. The financial statements, mandatory and voluntary public disclosures and the various product descriptions would provide the insight into the performance of the company. The information available on the official websites regarding the introduction of ULIPs and the financial statements before and after that will show the effect of introduction of ULIPs on the profitability of the life insurance companies. Expected learning outcome:I expect the project to make me fully acquainted of the life insurance industry in India. I wish to gain thorough knowledge of various kinds of products being offered, their respective business rationale, and their respective effects on the profitability of the companies. I also can gain knowledge as how to analyse the performance and profitability of a company.
