Xcellon Institute: School of Business SIP Aacademic Guideline for On the Job Training (201112)

SIP Student Log Book Students are expected to Record daily activities, observations, learning points and reflections in the log book. A regular and consistent recording of the daily learning activities will facilitate good report writing later. The students should articulate the learning experiences arising out of observation and actions in the SIP in a descriptive format and include their observations on how theory concepts taught in the sessions are being implemented in the company. At the end of each ten days, obtain comments or advice for improvement from the Company Guide and Faculty Mentor. Always keep the SIP student log book properly Log book communication with the faculty mentor has to be through email. During personal visits of the students if the faculty mentor is not available, the student/s are free to meet any faculty member present in the campus. All incoming email communication to the institute or the SIP coordinator or the faculty in-charge or the career center for all the communication relating to all matters of the SIP has to be to student services coordinator only. Upon completion of the SIP, submit the duly completed log book as an appendix to the written report.

Assessment
Assessment structure The SIP assessment system is based on following components: - Regular update to Faculty Mentor and Submission of log book on time.

Competency assessment by the Company Supervisor Written Report (First Draft, Second Draft, Final Draft) Presentation of the Work in Mid Review and End Review

To pass in the SIP academic evaluation student has to score at least 40 marks as a sum total of all.

Written Report
Read the Guidelines to Written Report before starting the SIP, and be familiar with the written report assessment criteria. Submit the Written Report to the Summer Internship Coordinator by the stipulated deadline. Any report submitted after 5pm of the deadline will not be accepted, and consequently student will get serious punishment. Before taking the print out of the written report, students have to take approval of Soft copy of the Project Report from Industry Guide and Faculty Mentors. Seek advice from the SIP Coordinator during the final on-campus session regarding the written report. Attach the following as appendices to the written report: SIP Student Log Book to be duly completed and endorsed by the company supervisor and Faculty Mentor. Self Appraisal Form APA guidelines style for report writing has to be followed. No extension will be given to any students on whatever grounds Discipline Disciplinary offences will be seriously dealt with and this can lead to a failure in the SIP. Should this happen, the student concerned might have to repeat the SIP in the following academic year. This in turn means a delay in graduation. Following constitute disciplinary offences: Refusal to follow instructions.

Termination by the company due to poor performance or conduct. Absence from work without valid reason. Late for or absence from the SIP launch and On-Campus Training sessions without valid reason. Non-conformity with company's dress code. Unacceptable quality of work, such as untidiness and carelessness. Tardiness in reporting for work. Insubordination. Pilferage of any forms, such as stationery and inventory. Failure to inform Company Supervisor of whereabouts when required. Breach of confidentiality. Photocopying of confidential information / documents without official permission. Duplication of software/confidential information used by the company, without official permission. Terminating the attachment or resigning from the company without authorization In addition any action, behavior treated/felt to be undisciplined by the company guide and/or key employees of the organization and duly communicated to the career center will be treated as a case for indiscipline. Nature of the disciplinary action against the students arising out of Matters of indiscipline would be dealt by a committee comprising of career center, Faculty in charge, SIP coordinator and the faculty mentor Under no circumstances are students allowed to terminate the attachment on their own accord.
