That basically sums up Sims 2 Castaway. Your sim washes up on an island and must survive until rescued or you can successfully escape. Great game and much better then the previous Sims on PSP. At times things can get confusing so I've decided to put together a guide. This is my first faq so please bear me. This may not take you step by step through every part of the game, but I intend to cover anything relevant and important to finish the game. Shoot an email to methnet@gmail.com if ya know something useful that has not been covered here. 1.1 Notes Out of the gate, I'll assume you've had some experience playing a sims game before. This will not be a step by step guide. This is an open ended game and it would be best to play your own way. So I will give you a layout of the goals and how to achieve them. How you go about it is up to you. One thing I will point out if you are new to the Sims series is the importance of needs, skills, relationships. Your sim will have daily needs like eating & sleeping that you must monitor constantly. You will not get much done in any Sims game with an unhappy sim. One need to pay attention to is the social need, second one down on the mood meter. The social need can prevent access to certain areas of the game so make

FRIENDS even if it's with monkeys. Skill levels will increase as you do tasks throughout the game. Later in the game, skill levels become important in order to make or use certain items so keep that in mind as you play. 2.0 Control Tips Just walking up to most things will bring out a pop up menu of a list of actions you can take. Sometimes the pop up will not show if you don't have the proper tool in your inventory to perform the action. This usually does not happen until pretty far in the game so it is something to keep in mind if you looking for an item but can't seem to find it anywhere. For example in order to harvest hardwood you have to have the right axe for the job to pop up when you walk past a hardwood tree. Without the axe you never get the pop up. CIRCLE Button - Brings out an abbreviated inventory of some important items. From this menu you can access fruits for a quick snack, toilet paper for a potty break, and other tools like fishing poles, nets, and spears. START Button - Main menu of the game. Access to Inventory, Map, Goals, Plans, appearance stuff, skill, friends, and more from here. SQUARE Button - Toggles Mood Meter located along the right side of the screen. TRIANGLE Button - Stops an action LEFT Trigger & UP (D-Pad) - Will speed up gameplay LEFT Trigger & LEFT or Right (D-Pad) - Switch to another crewmate. Only works if other crewmates is on the same part of the island as you. START -> Island Map - When multiple parts an island are unlocked, selecting the place you want to travel to on the map will make traveling much faster then by foot or boat. Less load screens. 3.0 Starting Out 3.1 Starting a new game you need to make an important decision right away. Do you want a crew? These will be people you will eventually meet up with during the game. They can be a help with gathering and making things to survive and are also good company. Or if you are the type that prefers to fly solo crewmates can be a pain to have to look after. All depends on your preference. 3.2

Then you can customize your sim as you like. You can choose a male or female. You can then either randomize or customize your sim. Customizing allows you to alter their appearance somewhat to your liking, choose a name, occupation and personality. 3.3 Occupation - Serves no purpose other then to give you skill points in a particular area. You will start out with zero skill level for all skills except the one that pertains to the profession you choose. Mechanic - Mechanical Skill Chef - Cooking Skill Doctor - Mechanical & Logic Skills Executive - Charisma Skill Musician - Creativity Skill Ranger - Body Skill Teacher - Logic 3.4 Personality - Pick a zodiac sign for your sim. You can also tweak these settings. May want to give this some thought if your chose to play with a crew. You don't need a bunch of grumpy sims who won't get along with each other. 3.5 Cue the cutscene. Once your done adding the crew a cut scene plays. After that you get two pop up messages. The second one tells you that you've found Moneywell's Big Book of Survival and will ask if you want to do the tutorial. I suggest doing the tutorial even if you have played other sims games before. 4.0 Gameplay Tips "Identify ....." Starting out in a new area you will often see "Identify bush" or something similar. You must identify many of the plants & trees in the game in order to harvest items from them. Portals As you look around the area you may see a set of feet hovering in the air or come across an action menu that says "Explore". This is a portal to a new area. First Beach has only one portal but as you progress other areas may have 2,3, or 4 portals. Tools It is a good idea to craft as many tools as possible, as early as you can in the game. There are points that you will not be able to advance beyond in the

game without specific tools or items created with specific tools. Cleaning Up Easy way to clean up plates is to run into the ocean. Go out far enough and the plates disappear. Or toss them in the fire. Inventory Built Items Many of the things that you build, for example work benches, stoves, etc, can all be placed in back in your inventory in case you would like to take them with you to another location. Enter Grab mode at the bottom of the Plans menu. Then select the item, hit the square button, and it will bring up a menu where you can either delete the item or put it in your inventory. Shelter Resources Plans for the different shelters require alot of resources to be in your inventory, especially later in the game. However, you don't have to use the preset plans for that paticular structure...you can build on on your own usually for alot less invetory items. Under Shelter Plans hit the R trigger until you see Roof Plans then sort through those. They give you options as to what size you want which can realy save on wood. Build the roof first since it will shelter you other objects from the rain and then you can go back and put up walls, windows, and doors whenever you get enough materials. 5.0 Shipwreck Island 5.1 First Beach Where you wash up and start out the game. I found a door, wall, sculptor, or stone that says "Inspect" but selecting that doesn't do anything. WTF? A. You have not completed or crafted what is needed to open that specific area. Q. Help! I'm stuck on second island & can't get past Airplane Jungle/Dark Cave. A. Use the torch to find a path that leads upwards near the pools to a portal. Q. Why can't I use the canoe? Says something about needing more "energy" A. You need all your mood bars green and almost full and max body skill points. Sometimes you need to build a better bed to rest on. Q. Help I started the w/ one sim and my social motive is really low?

A. Look under Object Plans->Leisure Plans for the Sand Buddy. Once you build him you can talk to him to raise your social. Plus if all your other motives are green/high your sim will "chat" with Mr.Sand Buddy until the social is full. Pretty decent because you can take him with you from place to place in your inventory. Q. How do you move the rock on the West beach? A. You need a high body skill and all the treasure map pieces. Q. How do you reach Crystal Island? A. Fix the forge in the Temple to unlock Crystal Island. Then swim to it from far right of West Beach or the far left of Pier Beach. Q. How can I get hardwood? A. You need the stone axe in your inventory for "Chop Hardwood" option to appear. Check Coa & Teak trees. There is alot it in Volcano Jungle. Q. Where can I find fine sand? A. Fine sand is on crystal island. Q. Where can I find obsidian? A. Obsidian is in the Dark Cave and Volcano Summit. Q. Where can I find rope/twine? A. You need to craft it on the workbench. Requires sisal. Q. How can I get sandalwood? A. You need a metal axe in the inventory for "Chop Sandalwood" to appear. Q. Where can I get ash? A. Ash comes from burnt out fire pits or anything that caught on fire. Q. How do you get the garden gnome? A. Washes on shore in a crate. Need an axe to bust crates. Q. Where do I find the death daisy? A. The death daisy only appears when a sim has died. Grows from the gravestone. 11.0 Version History 11-16-07 - Version 0.45 - First Island, Hieroglyphic & Treasure list, Some FAQs and Goals 11-19-07 - Version 0.70 - Slight Reformat of goals section, Some 2nd and 3rd island info, Update Hieros, add contact info and Unlocks section 11-25-07 - Version 1.0 - Finished islands info & Hieros, added more unlocks, and new tips.
