us to make a difference. We may not be able to stop the development itself, but we cAN do much to lessen the impact it will have.
INCREASE IN TRAFFIC
WBC have failed to consider the traffic impact on Eversley, which goes against Government policy. Volume of traffic through Eversley will increase - we currently have a peak time average of one vehicle passing every 3 seconds on the A327. There could be an additional 7,000 cars passing through our village daily. It will become impossible to cross the road or walk safely through the village. The A327 is already at capacity and unfit for purpose. 15 yrs of HGV construction traffic could decimate village life. There is no scope to widen the road, add cycle lanes or even a pavement.
EVERSLEY IN DANGER
The Garrison Development is much, much bIGGER than the brownfield Garrison site - extending to within a mile of Eversley itself. Eversley residents have not been consulted about the effect this will have on our village. The development includes 1 x Secondary School, 2 x Primary Schools, a Supermarket, 3,500 houses, district centre shops and a Bus Depot. NO PROVISION hAS bEEN mADE for the extra traffic through Eversley and surrounding areas. Sand and gravel for construction is very likely to be brought through Eversley on the B3272 and A327. The construction period will last uNTIL 2026. Wokingham Borough Council (WBC) has not properly consulted local and regional councils. Only after a legal challenge, lodged in the High Court by 6 local parish councils, did WBC open a new consultation period, which is NOW! Every resident, who wants to object or comment, needs to write in their own words about how it will affect them personally. Each letter needs to be different if ten identical letters are received they will only be counted as one objection. Our recommendation is to cite personal concern regarding the points outlined here. We have divided the issues into three main areas for concern. If you wish to clarify anything or get more detailed information, look at the Parish website www.eversleyparishcouncil.co.uk - or email us at Eversleymatters@hotmail.com. Thank you.

Planning Policy states that the historic environment should be protected. WBC has failed to consider the historic importance of The Street in Eversley, which is a conservation area. Planning Policy states that gaps should be created between existing communities. Building on the green fields south of the Garrison will significantly reduce that gap. The master plan leaves it open for additional houses to be built above the 3,500 initially planned. We will all be affected by the increase in traffic, noise, pollution, vibrations and disturbance, with likely damage to our environment and property. This goes against the Human Rights Act of 1998.
