My duties as a Credit Officer are in the following areas; Product training. I train the staff in the branch on the products and services the bank is rolling out and the existing ones to make sure they are all aware of the products. Loan appraisals- I perform quality checks and financial analysis for loans applications by the customer. The loans must be within the banks credit policy. The main emphasis is on the structure of the facility (period, type and business cycle), purpose of the loan, credit history, ability to pay (account turnovers and financial statements), character of the customer, co-guarantee and security coverage. Relationship management-I build a good working relationship between the customers and head office to ensure free flow of work and improved turn around time. I do sales and marketing to bring in new business and ensuring maximum customer satisfaction for the existing customers. I ensured that I meet the business targets, perform quality appraisals, maintain a clean portfolio and work towards achieving the targets set by the business. Portfolio Management and Analysis- I screen and appraise small & medium businesses and individuals before forwarding the facilities for discussions. I then follow up to ensure that the facilities are running successfully and also responsible for collection of debt in the unfortunate event that the customer defaults (end to end). Risk Analysis & Evaluation- I am responsible for evaluating lending risk and ensuring adherence to credit policy before loans are disbursed and ensure that the collaterals follow the due perfection processes. I am also involved on advising on inward debit registers on a daily basis to ensure efficient management of the TODS and the aging ODs. I was involved in the following activities; Conducting regular snap checks to determine whether colleagues are aware of the various policies and procedures and whether they actually follow them Counterchecking compliance with existing manuals Ensuring that all internal quality control reports are printed, reviewed and actioned appropriately. Assisting the Marketing manager undertake program of quality controls and marketing strategies to counter competition.
