How Can I be a Good Leader?

ABCs, 123s, red, blue and yellow are the basic primary colors. Circle, square and rectangle are the most common shapes and what else? The songs ABC, Ten Little Indians, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Bahay Kubo or Mary had a Little Lamb are what I had learned in my kindergarten years and how can I forget the Philippine National anthem that I have known as Bayang Magiliw instead of Lupang Hinirang. Also, the question What is your name? when I was a little girl where I am oblidged to answer almost to everyone who cares enough to ask. If you ask me, time can also be fickle minded too. Things change but I believe in the clich Everything has a beginning. Even good leaders do. People who can lead is the simple definition of what a good leader is. But deeper than that there are lot of defined qualities of being one. I, as a leader, starts by being a good follower where from the start, learning comes step by step. I began from being a little girl listening to my parents and teachers who taught me all I am now. But the simple fact also is that, there are two sides of almost everything. A coin has head or tail, black or white, love or hate, up or down, inside or out, good or bad, to be or not to be. Generally, I have been in the middle thinking the best way to go. Just like a good leader to decide for things, I must not only think of myself but for others who are listening to me. Trying to be calm and not to panic to clear my mind are ways to handle situations calling for decisions that need not be taken for granted. Integrity, honesty and being trustworthy are characteristics of being a good leader. True authority comes naturally from respect to have responsibility to others. I believe that these are the most important characteristics of being a good leader. Loving my work and being enthusiastic makes my workmates feel more open and optimistic under my leadership. Although, I have a different responsibility being a leader from my followers, it entails that the leader be part of the group working. This means that I am not afraid to roll up my sleeve and take responsibility. Strengthening my leadership, means building a stronger foundation. Therefore, I must strive always for excellence. It is not so bad to be second best, but doing my best is a relief to know that I have my efforts and abilities at hand compared to just being satisfied with second best and feeling sorry for myself in the end. Lastly, being a good leader has sacrifices to make. Every little time is essential to excellence in any task at hand. It means sacrificing my personal time to achieve my goal and I dont mind at all. Since if I like whatever I do and work with a joy in my heart, then I can be happy in whatever I live for.
