Summer Business Concepts Program

This 10-week program is designed to ensure that students with non-business-related undergraduate degrees can enter the One-Year MBA program with a foundation of core knowledge. The Business Concepts courses have been designed to cover key business concepts required for our One-Year MBA program. This program is open to all students who have been accepted into the One-Year MBA program. After earning a bachelors degree in politics, I was interested in getting an MBA because I knew it would open more doors for me. Clarksons program was attractive to me since I was able to pursue all the business foundation courses during the summer and immediately begin the MBA program in the fall. Michelle Roderick 07, MBA

MBA Alumni
After Heather Richter 08 earned her MBA from Clarkson, she began working as a consultant for IBM. In this role, she is based out of Boston but travels each week to work on projects with industrial clients around the country. Through her classes at Clarkson and her training at IBM, she is proficient in the Materials Management module of SAP, but can also work in several modules. Heather explains that the classes she took while at Clarkson have been very applicable to her daily work. Having an understanding of accounting terms allows me to better understand the finances of my clients and my supply chain classes have proven to be especially relevant, she says. Despite the fact that IBM has about 400,000 employees worldwide, Heather has found that there is a Clarkson community within the company, so she automatically had close ties to the University at her workplace.

The summer Business Concepts courses provide:
