SEA INDIE is a Bangkok-based indie music label started in 2009. With a simple mission statement; To unite and promote the great indie scenes in the Southeast Asian Region; Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. We release digital and free mp3 compilations and singles that include indie tracks from these regions. The idea for SEA INDIE (Southeast Asia Indie) came to Isarapan Boonyaso in December of 2008 after he realized that the Southeast Asian region was becoming a hotbed of indiepop talent. Isarapans rst compilation was made for fun just to share with his friends but he subsequently realized that there was a much wider, indeed world-wide interest, in the music and the SEA INDIE (Southeast Asia Indie) label was officially formed in 2009. Although he would rather called it as a group or network of friends who share love and appreciation in SEA INDIE music. Cloud Nimbus, an illustrator who has made a nice cover art for 'Mighty Melody (Malaysia Indie Scene)' Nimbus is a post post graduate student and a fulltime freelance graphic artist. He is also a lead-singer of a Malaysian indie pop/rock band named romancesa. He's been drawing since six years old. Then, converted his drawing enthusiasm and collecting comics hob by into a passion, enrolled for art&design program in local university and here he is, become a graphic artist that will work for food and cigarettes. He favorite style is line drawing, with a mix of bright, vintage and pastel color scheme. And of course, cartoon is a Must!. His major inuences in art & design are the likes like Akira Toriyama, Hayao Miyazaki, Ryosukei Tei, Andy Warhol, Van Gogh, Bryan Lee O Malley, James Jeans and lotsa amazing artists in the art history books and DeviantArt websites. SEA INDIE : Mighty Melodys cover arts, What is the idea behind it? Cloud Numbus : Basically the main idea is to visualize a scene where a box or casket, containing creativitys from the bands coming out. I think its a pain to visualize every single bands (up to 16 bands), so Ive decided to put up a single image that can represent all of the bands from Malaysia without being an extreme nationalist or too patriotic, by creating a Jack in The Box Malayan Tiger capped boy playing his yellow Strat. See! Art&design do can save the world! LoL! The colorful lightning bolts are purposely added to give electrifying feel! Bzzzzzttt!!! Hahaha

1. Love/Comes His Gesture Of Love

Love/Comes is an indierock band from Kuching Sarawak, Malaysia, Has been around since 2006. Playing small club shows/college during early formation. Since then cut a demo EP titled Letters & Postcards that made available for few people & friends. Love/comes is basically a postpunk band trying to venture into the dreamy side of shoegaze, however, not to complicate things they're just playing Indie Rock. Mark A. 2. Nicestupidplayground Stereo Girl

Nicestupidplayground was started a frontman and lead singer Charles Rossem in 1992 by ; and modeled the sound after a distant early 1980s British rock sound, citing his initial inuences as the Cure, the Smiths and Stone Roses. After several contributions to compilations, their hit song Bedroom Window landed on the album Boys & Girls 1+1=3 which featured their song as the rst and main single; the compilation won several awards. Bedroom Window was chosen in Hongkong by Hollywood movie. After being let go from Positive Tone Records in 2003, Nicestupidplayground continued to tour minimally, offered meetings with fans upon the album release of A Beautiful Life. 3. The Drives Friday Saturday Sunday

Formerly known as Bandwagon in 2003, The Drives was formed by Rizal (exRadish Fan-1995) and Ricky (ex-nicestupidplayground-1993) before recruiting Bobby (ex-Groover's Lum-1994) and Nelle (ex-Radish Fan-1995). Their rst demo was recorded in 2004 but didn't make it into the market due to an unforseen reason. Later in 2005, Nelle left the band to join nicestupidplayground and his departure changed the whole band in terms of musical inuences and directions. Diddy had special appearance in Discolight EP 2010 as vocalist for the EP. On July 2010, Jerry had joined The Drives as second guitar.

4. Yuna Backpacking Around World

Yuna Zarai is a Malaysian singer-songwriter, She was born in Kedah, and grew up in Subang Jaya, Kangar, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Malaysia. Yuna started out as a solo Myspace artist in 2006, singing in both English and Bahasa Malaysia. Her music inuences include Fiest, The Cardigans, Coldplay, Sia and Bob Dylan.Yuna's meteoric rise in the Malaysian indie music scene is largely due to the strong following she gained via Myspace. Having played at many gigs since the release of her Demo, she is now focusing on promoting and performing music on her debut EP.Yuna describes her music as "a cross between Mary Poppins and Coldplay

Couple is one of the few true blue power pop bands in the region, they have been playing its trade for about 13 years now, dedicating itself to remind people of the virtues and magic of 'the song', and the power of the pop!! Taking cues from bands like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Big Star, The Who, The Raspberries, The Beat,and Weezer, Couple has kept on doing what they do best and hope to put a smile (and hopefully a headbang or toe-tap or two) on all yours guys' faces. But, making you wet your pants will make us equally happy too!!

7. Liyana Fizi This Feeling

Liyana Fizi plays a mix of acoustic indie tunes tinged with folk, bossa, and jazz. Gaining acknowledgment for her melodic songwriting, the singer/songwriter made her rst debut as one of the founding members of Malaysian indie-pop band Estrella. Everyday musings and inward thoughts are the main elements of her music, using simplicity as the main staple.

Wani Ardy is a Malaysian creative writer and independent singer-songwriter, born in Kuala Lumpur and raised in Subang Jaya, Malaysia. A shaper of young minds by profession and a rabid wordsmith by passion, Wani Ardy personies the bipolarities of modern twentysomething. Khottal (Pronunciation: k-tl ) is a name of band hailing from Malacca, Malaysia. Formed in mid-2008 consists of 11 people, who are like a mixed bag of pills. 13. The Hollows - Silent

The Hollows was born and raised in Ipoh, Malaysia. Mostly inuenced by jangly indie-pop sensibility with a mould of they own special sense of music. 16. The Sofa Sessions Nobody Else

The Sofa Session is a band formed in late 2004 by singer-songwriter Ariff Akhir with Nazneen Halim and Shahril Eashak. The most recent lineup of the band features Ariff on guitar and lead vocals, Shahriz Stixx Ismail on drums and percussions and Faidhal Mustaq Faizan on bass. The band is musically inuenced by artists like the Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chili Peppers and David Bowie. Events the band has performed at include Rock The World 7, Mont'Kiara Jazz & Rhythm Fest 2005, After Hours II at the Singapore Esplanade, Fete De La Musique, Starbucks Coffee music series, Troubadours / Doppelganger live events and many other independently organized live shows and private functions. The band released an EP, Five Songs, in early 2006 and is currently working on a full-length album.
