Music in the language classroom is NOT pivotal in enhancing academic performance 1st speaker (Negative)

Honourable chairperson, Just Adjudicators, Precise time-keepers Fellow comrades in battle The opponents Ladies and gentlemen Salutations to all We are gathered here today with a one common motive which is to combat todays motion that is Music in the language classroom is pivotal in enhancing academic performance. But my house strongly believes that music in the language classroom is NOT, I repeat is not pivotal in enhancing academic performance. But before I continue further I would like to rebut the first point of the first speaker from the affirmative. He/she stated that So now allow me to continue with my topic by defining to you the keywords, According to the Oxford English Reference Dictionary Music means something that integrate everything in terms of intellect, sentiment and sensuality. Language classroom means a method of human communication in a place where the language lessons are learnt. Pivotal means a crucial or essential point Enhancing means to heighten, intensify or improve something Academic performance means the outstanding achievement in teaching or learning. Music in the language classroom is not pivotal in enhancing academic performance. In fact music has nothing to do with enhancing students academic performance. This is so because a student achieves excellence out of their own hard work and not through music there are so many successful people who have made it without using music. To elaborate further, people who are exposed to music will find using music in the language classroom a distraction, and are they going to concentrate on what is being taught in the language classroom or are they going to listen to music. Im sure to many music will be the choice. And to implement music in the language classroom is not an easy task and it also cost a lot of money, energy, time and planning. And Im sure that it is not practical in all schools such as school in rural areas. Ladies and gentlemen, Our stand therefore is that although music is important in enhancing academic performances, however, there are other factors which are equally important. Music in the language classroom is not the key factor in enhancing students academic performance for it takes the students own effort, attitude and concentration in learning to actually raise their academic performance.

Because in spite of all the efforts taken to help implement the use of music in the language classroom, the bare fact is that, in order for a student to better their academic performance is up to the students themselves and not the use of music. Students have to be sincere in taking the opportunities provided to them and honestly apply themselves with an aim to excel. no amount of training and no amount of spoon feeding and gimmicks like music is going to enhance academic performance. A student is first of all lucky to be a student, an opportunity denied and out of reach for millions of children in other parts of the world. So as much as all those who are responsible trying to improve the students language skills with the use of music in the language classroom. It still isnt going to work. My second speaker will further convince you, to accept the fact that music in the language classroom is NOT pivotal in enhancing academic performance. Finally, my third speaker will logically break down every futile argument the affirmative may have, before restating our honourable cause. Ladies and gentlemen, My first point is that willpower is needed to improve academic performance. Because the best usage of music facilities and music programs in the language classroom is not pivotal in enhancing a students academic performance. There should be a wanting to excel and this should come from the students themselves with or without music.

Now allow me to explain, It is no secret that some schools are trying very hard to help improve language skills with the use of music in the language classroom. Schools nowadays according to our old folks are striving very hard to meet the diverse needs of the students. But if a student is not interested in helping themselves out, no amount of music could help them better their language skills. And many students today are not going to be interested in music such as Mozart or Beethoven , they like to listen to music by my chemical romance and florida and t-pain which instead of enhancing their language may in turn destroy any bit of language they already know. In conclusion ladies and gentleman, I have given you our first point which proves that Im not wrong when I say that music in the language classroom is not pivotal in enhancing academic performance and that it depends on the student. With that, we beg to propose.
