INTRODUCTION One of the most important responsibilities of construction project management is the planning and scheduling of the construction project. The key to successful profit making in any company is to have a successful project. For this to happen numerous activities in a project has to be well planned, directed and controlled to obtain optimum project objectives. Every activities are linked with another activity in one way or the other. In any complex project if not virtually impossible to obtain the inter-relationship between the activities, will lead to the total collapse of the project. Thus planning and scheduling plays a important role before the project is being executed. BLUEPRINT A document of the project is created which consist of the following details y Design details y Bill of quantities and detailed engineering The blueprint provides the details which is required for planning. For a project it is not possible to initiate planning without a blue print. PLANNING AND SCHEDULING Planning for construction projects involves logical analysis of the projects, its requirements and the plan for its execution. This will also include consideration for existing constraints and available resources that will affect the execution of the project. Considerable planning is required for the support functions for the project, material storage, work facilities, office space, temporary utilities and so on. The planning is done using critical path method which involves identification of activities of the project, the ordering of these activities with respect to each other, and the development of a Gant chart. The planning and scheduling process should consist of the following datas y Organization structure y Work break down structure

Resource break down structure Activities planning and scheduling Resource planning and scheduling Communication chart Task actuals report status Risk Analysis This can be described as follows. a) Organization break down structure

The projects are impacted by and have impact on the culture, management policies and procedures of an organization. The structure of the performing organization often constrains the availability of resources from function to projectized with variety of matrix structures. For this project an organization chart is prepared which could be useful during the execution of the project. b) Work break down structure It is done in this project in order break the works into smaller manageable pieces. It helps to helps to control project. c) Resource break down structure It is same as that of work break down structure here resources in various departments are broken down into smaller structures. d) Activities planning and scheduling The project has to undergo various activities in order to attain its final completion. There will be large number of activities taking place in a day. By proper planning and scheduling only it makes the project manageable. By this process we could be able to find out the critical path, Total float, duration of activities etc. This is done by using a Gant chart.

e) Resource Planning and scheduling Each activities are done using various resources. In a day large number of activities will be taking place and resources used will be larger than the activities. In order to eradicate over allocation and under allocation, the resources should be assigned carefully with respective activities. In this project a Gant chart is used to allocate resources with activities for efficient planning. f) Communication chart A chart is created which describes a structure of communication. A communication chart is essential during the execution of project. It is done in the form of a matrix structures. It helps in proper communication during the execution of project. g) Estimate and costing It deals with analysis of cost required for the completion of project without this the project infeasible. h) Risk Analysis It deals with the analysis of risks that has to be encountered during the execution of project. It is like answering to the following questions.what can go wrong? how can we avoid it? what can we doabout it? a) Task actuals and report status. It is a sheet which helps in making reports about details of work done, cost, resources used etc. The updates are made using this sheet everyday during the progress of work. It is essential for an organization to update the everyday work and it also help in report making during its final stage of completion.

OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

The objectives of the project are given below 1) To plan and schedule the construction of a mall with the help construction project management techniques and blue print. 2) To find the critical task, cost and duration of the project. IMPORTANCE OF THE STUDY Project planning is an essential part of project management. Successful completion of a project is heavily dependent on effective planning. A project plan allows you to complete a project within a specified timeline and a specified budget. Both project planning and project schedule are useful for effective project management. This, in turn, enables the company to achieve its strategic goals. And that is not the end. Effective project management helps companies to thrive and remain competitive. A project plan accurately measures the project status and warns you of any problem areas, beforehand. Risk management can then take over in order to mitigate the risk. Also, without proper planning, projects are likely to overrun. They can also incur additional costs. In the process, the profits are in jeopardy.A program which involves related projects requires even greater levels of planning to give a fair idea of the interdependencies. You can also exercise control over the projects that way. METHODOLOGY OF STUDY The methods used in the study are given below: a) Collecting required datas in order to make a blueprint. b) Using softwares such as Primevera and MS project for planning and scheduling of activities and resources. c) Making use of construction project management techniques.

SCHEME OF STUDY:
