E.M.C A few exercises

Exercise #1 : Calculate the value (in Volt) of a 100 dB V and a 20 dBmV voltage What is the value of a 40 dB attenuation between 2 measurements ? Exercise #2 : Draw the linear scale (dBV)

50 dB

0 dB -10 dB
Exercise #3 : In E.M.C., harmonics are the components of the current whom frequency is a multiply of the network frequency (50 Hz in Europe). The others are named interharmonics. The most disturbing harmonics are generally H5 and H7. In Europe, the E.M.C. standards give the maximum level of harmonics up to 2 KHz. What is the corresponding frequency? This table gives the maximum value of the harmonics of current for class A devices (220 Volt single phase, maximum current 16 A)

Explain it. Give an example of a device producing - harmonics - interharmonics

Exercise #4 : Calculer la rsistance entre 2 points distants de 10 cm sur une piste de circuit imprim de 1 mm de large. Calculate the resistance of a 10 cm length, 1 mm width printed circuit wire. Exercise #5 : Calculate the resistance of a 35 mm2 section, 2 m length ground. Calculate its inductance at 1KHz and 1 MHz. From which frequency is the inductance becomes prominent?

Exercise #6 : The connexion wire is the one studied exercise #4. Calculate its impedance at 10 KHz and 10 MHz. From which frequency is the inductance becomes prominent? The input impedance is very high, so that its possible to neglect ie. The input voltage is sinusoidal with a 10 mV amplitude. Calculate the theoretical value of the output voltage (gain = 1000) If the impdance of the load equals 1 K, does the amplifier work correctly at 10 KHz and at 10 MHz ? Exercise #7 : The length of the connexion wire is 10 cm. Icc1 equals 20 mA at high level and 100 mA at low level. The commutation lasts 1ns. Calculate the over voltage on power supply. Exercise #8 : Analyse how the square wave generator work without and with taking the parasitic capacitor into account. If C = 2 pF, if the rising time from 0 to 5 Volt = 2 ns, calculate the value of the over strength of the current. Exercise #9 : Lightning : a 20 cm x 20 cm printed circuit lays at 2 cm from the ground frame. One of the wire gets 2% of the parasitic current. The board is the victim of a 500 Volt, 5 ns interference. Calculate the value of the total parasitic current and the value of the parasitic current in the mentioned wire.
